Tulsa Should Look Long and Hard
Published: 1/12/2011 4:02 PM

Despite what you may hear, Tulsa does not need to be in a hurry to find a coach.
If it takes an extra day or two, to search high and low, then take the time.
Tulsa made it clear it wants to look at new options not go back down any familiar roads this week in the search to replace Todd Graham as football coach.
Former TU coach Steve Kragthorpe obviously wanted the job but TU officials aren't even interested in hearing his pitch.
Instead, they want to explore their options. They should.
When Kragthorpe was hired, and TU football was at a historic low point, there was a long and impressive line of candidates.
Now that TU football is an attractive job, it should look at every option.
The fact that a hire hasn't been made may indicate there are candidates out there that intrigue TU that we haven't yet heard about.
Somebody like...well, Steve Kragthorpe was when Tulsa looked to turnaround the progeram from the Keith Burns era.

And as the remaining coaches (both of them) try to do some recruiting with signing day rapidly approaching, only three weeks from today...they can refer to their New Head Coach,

Coach #&*Mumbles*(&*&%,

formerly of *&%^#*Mumbles(*^# University,

a leader in the *&*^%Mumbles*(&%^ offensive set.

Yeah...that should work.

Wrong, top recruit from Mesquite has already bailed. In all fairness, it was the Rader/Burns era that put football program in the crapper.

This column is idiotic. Bubba claims that a "plan" was already in the works before Graham bolted. Well, it's time to execute the plan. Ten days from now, half the new players (the very best ones) will have decommitted. Tulsa cannot afford a big step backwards in 2011, but if there is no head coach soon, we will be taking a giant leap backwards, and all the momentum from the Hawaii Bowl will be a long lost memory.
