Tulsa struggles in First Half

Tulsa did not play very well in the first half against North Texas.
The Golden Hurricane needed every last play of the half to grab a 7-3 lead.
TU committed two turnovers and trailed for much of the second quarter.
Not until a gambling final drive of the half did TU finally get up on the Mean Green.
Tulsa went 96 yards in 13 plays to take the 7-3 lead on the final play of the first half.
Paul Smith hit Ted Curtis with a four-yard TD pass for the lead.
The TD play came on a fourth down. It was the third fourth down the Hurricane faced on the drive.
On the previous two, Smith converted a fourth-and-5 with an 8-yard run and a fourth-and-4 with a an offsides penalty.
Tulsa also had gone for a fourth down midway through the second quarter and failed. Plus, they quick-kicked out of a fourth down in the first quarter.
It was not a pretty half and Tulsa will have to play much better in the second half to get away from the Mean Green.
Still, considering how plain vanilla the North Texas offense is, there's little hope for the Mean Green posting many points unless Tulsa helps them with turnovers.
North Terxas was pathetic in the first half, gaining just 51 yards on 20 plays.
