Turnovers and Locust Plagues

By now you have undoubtedly heard that OU lost to Kansas State because of turnovers.

But as regards OU football, turnovers are considered to have been cast upon the Sooners by Thor, the god of mayhem and thunder.

Turnovers going against OU are considred to be unfortunate acts of nature, or the occult: Oh, poor us, turnovers got us again.

Guess what.

Giving up turnovers doesn't mean you're unlucky. Usually it means you stink. About five percent of turnovers are bad luck, deflections bouncing the wrong way, fumbles hopping to them. In the great majority of the cases, turnovers are indications of lousy football.

Here's something else. Say you give up a turnover on the 50. STOP SOMEBODY ONCE IN A WHILE!

Great teams have the coaching and the ability to overcome turnovers upon occasion.

Only at OU do turnovers seem to equal automatic scores for the foe, no matter where an interception or fumble happens on the field.

Stoops press conference was funny- and I'm not hating, I hope they pull it together, and I'm fairly certain they will.

I don't know. Watching the games so far, I get the feeling they are sometimes unorganized and look like they don't know what they are doing.

Or maybe FORGET what they are doing.

KSU was just a harbinger...there's a lot more of this humiliation to come for the bumbling buffoon brothers down in Norman. Mercifully, the Sooners are officially off the radar screens of every major sporting news organization in the country. No pressure now as sentiment switches from "expect them to win big" to "O who?"

Before we anoint K State the Big 12 champ, bear in mind there were HUGE holes in their zone defense against OU. West Virginia and OK State will drop 50 points on these guys. Of course, they may give up 51.

As long as Stoops is winning a Big 12 championship and going to a major bowl every other year, he will feel that there is nothing seriously wrong. That streak of Big 12 championships in even numbered years is on the line this year. It may already be lost. It may take consecutive seasons of going to mediocre bowls before changes are made. Even then, I'm not so sure.

"Only at OU do turnovers seem to equal automatic scores for the foe, no matter where an interception or fumble happens on the field." Couldn't agree more.

Didn't they bring back Mike Stoops to stop somebody in the fourth quarter?
