Two Great Questions

1. What's up with The Porcupine?

This, in reference to why OSU coach Mike Gundy is calling plays -- a great question.

At the moment, these college coaches who call plays come immediately to mind: the Notre Dame guy, the Kansas guy, Spurrier. Talk about a firing line. Spurrier, who at least still has a job, has been the biggest SEC flop in years, with no offense to speak of.

Being head coach is hard enough -- why call plays? If you're over there drawing up another quarterback option, and it's fourth and an inch at midfield, it's obviously hard to focus on the right decision.

Get a play caller.

2. What's up with the OU experts?

Dean Blevins came on the local CBS sports report, which is local mostly in theory, as it is primarily an OKC show, Tulsa getting leftovers, and he said that it might be wise for his Sooners to avoid USC in a bowl.

There's no denying Dean is "Mr. OU Football."

And numerous other Sooners have expressed wishes to play anybody but USC in one of those low-rent cheesy bowls.
But since when does OU have to run around avoiding anybody?

Guess what, USC stinks. The quarterback is slow and has a noodle arm. The defense is horrible. This would be the year to play USC.

Concerning the USC coach scoring late versus UCLA. Good. USC sat on the football. The UCLA showboat called timeout. Don't call time out, the game is over. USC should have gone onside after.

I wouldn't give you a nicke's worth of dog poo for Carroll or Neuheisel.  They're both low-born, classless non-entities.

OU needs to avoid any team with potential. Gundy coaching job was the worst of the worst.

Bring on USC!  Even though they're down, payback would be nice.  And you're right about UCLA.  If you don't want to just take your obvious loss like a man, then that's what you get.  Neuheisel didn't have a problem with it.  How could he?

No doubt Gumby is the worst coach I've seen in a while.

Maybe his bro had a little dis-information campaign going over the turkey break.  Played with his head a little.

After seeing the OSU-OU football game I think I'mfairly convinced that Gundy might want to hirean offensive coordinator.Being a head coach alone is tough for anyone in the profession.Head coaching and being an offensive coordinator at the same time to me would be impossible.I still am for Gundy being coach at Oklahoma State.Hiring an offensive coordinator who actually calls the plays beside the head coach would be a good idea.

Let's see here, Mike Gundy played what in college...oh yeah, that's right quarterback.  Let's see here, Mike Gundy is in what profession...oh yeah, that's right he is a college football coach.  I've also heard he's forty-something so he can take criticism and abuse from domiciles.

How many national championships has Pete Carroll won...hey wait that is more than Bob isn't it?  Why all the hate for a guy that has resurrected the USC football program?  As for the Sooners and their misfortunes in BCS games, it has been a series of circumstances in each, not a collective trend.  Funny thing about it is that the winning team gets just as much as the losing team, other than the bragging rights for their domicilies.Bob is a great football coach, he isn't Barry, he isn't Bud, heck he isn't even Mike Leach, but he is the man at OU for now.  Boomer Sooner!
