The Oklahoma Sooners got together last Friday night and recognized a pair of freshmen you didn't hear anything about this season, due to the fact they were redshirting.
You might hear plenty about Trevor Knight and Derrick Woods in the coming years, however.
The two true freshmen spent the fall on the scout team, doing well enough to prepare OU's starting defense that they were honored as Scout Team Players of the Year on offense Friday night.
The week of the OU-TCU game, someone asked defensive tackle Casey Walker about Knight, a four-star quarterback from San Antonio who passed for 2,092 yards and rushed for 942 more as a senior, accounting for 42 touchdowns along the way.
"He makes plays on scout team where you're like, 'Man, really?'" Walker said. "He's gonna be really good."
Woods was a high school All-American wide receiver in Inglewood, Calif., last year. He got stuck behind what became a deep receiving corps at OU this season, but showed the Sooners enough to have faith in his future.
"D-Woods can do everything," said cornerback Aaron Colvin, who saw his share of the freshman scout teamer. "He can run. His hands are strong. He's getting bigger every week. He kind of possesses a little bit of everything I would say."
