Unless Super LeBron shows up, Thunder look good for Game 2

Tip off for Game 2 of the NBA Finals is just a few hours away.

Be sure to check out all our coverage at TulsaWorld.com/ThunderInsider.

And, if you haven't seen our "Beards around Tulsa," do yourself a favor and take a quick look. (See pictures here).

Full credit goes to our Scene department for putting together such a fun Finals feature. Thunder fans are definitely enjoying the moment, as well they should.

Will it get better tonight? My guess is yes. In his advance for tonight's game, Bill Haisten points out that only three teams in NBA Finals history have rallied from a 2-0 deficit.

Bill goes even farther in his blog (check it out here), saying the series won't return to OKC if the Thunder win tonight.

I won't go that far, but despite what happened in the San Antonio series (remember the Thunder reeled off four straight after trailing 2-0), I think a 2-0 OKC lead would put them in the driver's seat against Miami.

Since 1985, the NBA Finals format has given the team without home court advantage Games 3-5 at home. In the last 15 years, only two teams -- the 2006 Heat and the 2004 Detroit Pistons -- have swept their three straight home games.

So history says tonight's game is pretty important. One game is a very small sample size, but the Thunder seem too young and Kevin Durant too good to think anything other than an OKC win tonight, and eventually, a series victory.

But if Super LeBron makes an appearance in Game 2, things could change quickly.

Or if Westbrook has one of those games.... :)
No kidding. I thought the first-quarter struggles in Game 1 were Finals jitters. I guess not. If OKC can play with a little more intensity early, they should be OK. If not, it's going to be a struggle the rest of the way.
