Van Pelt Having Big Year on Tour

Bo Van Pelt is quietly having a terrific season on the PGA Tour.

Van Pelt finished second in the AT&T National in Washington, D.C. on Sunday. He lost what turned into a Sunday duel against Tiger Woods, who is now once again the No. 1 player on the world.

Van Pelt has been the model of consistency this season.

The former Oklahoma State star is currently 18th in FedExCup points and 24th in the Official World Golf Rankings.

Van Pelt has six top-10 finishes and 10 top-25 finishes this season.

He has made the cut in 13 of 16 events this season and has won $2.1 million this year.

He was close to a victory on Sunday.

“It was disappointing,” said Van Pelt. “I’ll be disappointed for a while, probably about two hours (Monday) driving up to my boat.

“Then, once I get on that for the rest of the week, I probably won’t think about it much.”

Van Pelt is in a good spot to make a run at more tournaments this season. He’s been close a lot this spring and summer.

“All in all, I’ve been working on stuff on my swing last week working on my grip a bunch,” said Van Pelt. “To play the way I did the last two days, I’m very pleased.”

I wish he'd have chipped the ball in on eighteen on Sunday.
