Video demonstrates what's wrong with move to SEC
Published: 7/3/2012 2:19 PM

Althea Peterson, our web reporter, shared this video with me earlier today.

As a Texas A&M graduate, she figured I would be interested -- and likely embarrassed.

The video, a Southeastern Conference kickoff promo filmed by the university, shows A&M students imitating -- with limited success -- the most famous cheers of other league schools.

In my mind, it also shows the worst aspect of the Aggies' move to the SEC -- that the conference is this utopia of cooperative thought and somehow that cooperation will make A&M better on the football field.

As one A&M football player said so well on Twitter, "I want to WIN. Not cheer on other teams in the SEC."

Hopefully, soon, A&M fans will learn that success has more to do with coaching and recruiting than what conference you play in.

I suppose if you are not going to contend for a conference championship in football, you might as well share as much money as you can. The SEC can at least provide that for them.
