Stop that crying this second!

What's with all the athletes weeping on camera?

Healthy athletes have started crying more than six-year olds with skinned knees.

The most recent weeper was Packer quarterback Favre. There for a second, it sounded like he had signed up to fight in the war.

There are happier wakes.

What's so sad about retiring, anyway?

Emotional, probably -- but why wouldn't celebrating the end of a fabulous career be a time of great joy.

Shouldn't the last memory of a great player be of a field of dreams, not a stream of tears?

Hey, if it weren't for football the guy would be cleaning septic tanks. He has the brains of an OU fan. His life, other than playing golf with jock sniffers, is over.

He's crying knowing his last play in the NFL was an interception that cost his team the chance to play in the Super Bowl.

Give me a freakin break! Can a man not have an honest moment to share with everyone and not be ridiculed and picked over? Picker, you have obviously never felt strongly enough about anything to get emotional about it. It is what makes life worth living. I feel sorry for you all of a sudden. You are no better than the standard schoolyard bully who picks on others, but is really empty and sad underneath it all. Pathetic. Brett Favre is a true man. You are a true weasel.

For that matter, what do you call 75% of what you write in this paper? It sounds like a lot of waaaa waaaaa whining to me. Get a life you sleazeball!

There's enough real stuff to be sad about. Retiring from a game that paid you four hundred trillion, six thousand million, nine hundred and eighty dollars?

Picker, your response only shows further how little you have ever accomplished in life and that you have no clue what it means to give up something that you have devoted your life to and meant everything in the world to you.

Maybe someday you will know what I'm talking about, but I seriously doubt it.

You are apparently one of those who doesn't truly live. You just observe and try to make a mockery of those who do. Jealous much?

I point everyone to these words by Teddy Roosevelt:

""It is not the critic who counts: not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles or where the doer of deeds could have done better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly, who errs and comes up short again and again, because there is no effort without error or shortcoming, but who knows the great enthusiasms, the great devotions, who spends himself for a worthy cause; who, at the best, knows, in the end, the triumph of high achievement, and who, at the worst, if he fails, at least he fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who knew neither victory nor defeat."

Brett Favre was obviously one who was in the arena and attained high achievement and his emotions were the product of striving for something his whole life and finally giving up that which he loved most. The Picker and those who mock him are most likely those cold and timid souls/critics who know not of the things they speak of.

Sure. But Teddy Roosevelt didn't cry after he killed the moose. Besides, what did he know. He couldn't hit anything beyond the arc.
