Wake Up TU People

Reaction to a TU athletic event has hit a new low.

Not that it was a big drop from the Post Season Tournament of Basketball Dogs and Losers that filled the TU gym with embarrassing cheers a few years ago.

Numerous TU people are content with being wiped off the face of the earth by Duke. Numerous TU people are actually celebrating the feat of playing a decent but not overly good Duke team close for a half.

This is disgusting. Losing by 18 is disgusting. Guess what people. Duke didn't care about the game.

TU hasn't been to the NCAA tournament in a long while. The time has long since passsed for lame moral victories.

Half the bum teams on earth win 20 games, it is no longer a meaningful measuring stick.

You look forward to another tournament for has-beens?

Come on TU people, pretend like you've been there, like you've been to the big time.

Sad, but true. A 20-win season in basketball is like a 6-win season in football, except that you don't automatically qualify for post-season. Every institution with a website and a PO Box has a basketball team. Football costs a boat-load of money. But basketball? Just get five punks from the playground, and when they flunk Music Appreciation, go get five more. (Jeez, I'm getting cynical!)

It's too late for TU, this year or any in the foreseeable future.

There should be a couple of "flavor of the moment" boys available after the NCAA Tourney that TU could pluck for next coach. Problem with Wojo was that he was the PRIOR year's flavor of the moment and his time had passed when TU got him (see Peterson, Buzz, Tennessee, under wikipedia).

TU runs an offense from the 1950's. Their offense is very ugly. 52 points at Duke? It reminds folks a little bit about the pre shot-clock days when Henry Iba and Bruce Drake were coaching. TU needs to emphasize offense, instead of defense. TU needs to make games high scoring, not low scoring. Otherwise, they won't be an NCAA Tournament worthy team.

Hey Pick, do you care to comment on your prediction of the state teams' chances of getting into the NCAA tournament? Oh, you don't remember? Conveniently enough for you, I do.

TU's chances: 50%
OU's chances: 49%
OSU's chances: 40%

Out of the three teams, the one that is a lock for the NCAA tourney is the one you gave the worst odds of making it. The other two aren't even close.

If predictions pay the bills for you, my guess is that there is a steep financial crisis in the Picker household.
