We Love Soccer (Read on)!

Today we kicked France's backside thrice to once, or however the Euros like to say it, in soccer for women.

Europe has no real sports, no NFL, no baseball, just bull fighting and anti-violent basketball players and soccer.

During the broadcast of the victory, they cut to a live view of some soldiers in Afganistan, cheering like crazy, possibly without knowing which side of a soccer ball was up.

We watched every second of the second outing or setting or session or whatever else it's called. And whereas we don't see ear to ear with those Euro announcers who find stuff like subtle nuances in the play, it was an exciting sporting experience.

Here's what that proves. We'll watch and enjoy anything just so long as our favorite team wins. Even WNBA basketball.

Win or find yourself lost in any sport.

Note to all those who couldn't wait to get coach Nolan fired. How you feeling now after losing two by what, 50 points?

Laz, if the Shock got on a big win streak, you'd be right there in the Joan Rivers seats cheering them on with the team animal.

Firing Nolan was a good start! Now some players under forty. Stop signing"names" who cant play anymore Mr. P.! Maybe we can draft some soccer players or Lacrosse players or more washed up Olympians!

Your right picker, with Nolan still at the WNBA Tulsa team helm those women would be on a 2 game winning streak & looking eagerly towards the playoffs....

Nolan is & always was a coaching genius, legend & all around superbly gifted coaching icon, there ought to be a statue out in front of the Reynolds Arena honoring the the man who put Tulsa sports on the nations lips....

Without him having graced to Tulsa streets with his presence people would've packed up & left Tulsa as a ghost town decades ago....

It amazes me that that's it taking so long for me to face up & validate this obvious realty that was, is & always will be TULSA at it's finest!!!!

That doesn't explain, however, why more Americans watched the last game of the 2010 World Cup (between Spain and Holland) than the last game of the 2010 World Series (Between San Fran and Texas). Maybe Americans will someday accept baseball...

Senor nutso, the one thing we're not afraid of is the local meteorologists. We've hit the only nerve they have repeatedly.

Out Pick The Picker

The Picker began entertaining – and infuriating – sports fans in 1993. Each week during football season, he writes about his picks of college and NFL games in his Thursday Sports column. He's never afraid of sharing his opinions about the game and the personalities who play it. Readers have a chance to go against him each season in the Outpick the Picker contest. He welcomes the competition.
