We Review the Tiger Show: F-minus

No questions?
Who does he think he is, a politician?
Was he sorry?
He was sorry his wife confiscated his cell phone.
The only ones grading worse than the scrambler were the media members who acted like this was an important story in the worldly scheme of things.
Listen, this guy is only a golfer.
Come on, golf isn't even a contact sport except off the course.
Be quiet and play golf.

My opinion: Insincere presentation of his "apology", would not look anyone in the eye. Read off a card that sounds like one of those pre-printed 12-step program principles. Timing seemed too carefully calculated as a slap to the Accenture folks who dropped him. Looked more like a spoiled child pouting after getting caught with his hand in the cookie jar than a sincere, mature apologist. However, Elin seems to be the future of golfing - wouldn't she be fabulous on the Women's "long drive" golf competitions with that mighty swing?
But in the long run, I don't really care one way or the other, he has (literally) made his bed and must now lie in it. Or as another saying goes, "lie down with dogs, you'll end up with fleas"; it will take more than a Hartz flea shampoo to wash his conscience clean.

Picker: RUN!!!!! Golfer? oh, I thought you wrote 'gofer.' Still, yet, he has NO CREDIBILITY!!!!!

Sounded sincere to me but only Tiger knows if it really was. Doesn't really change anything but he did what he had to do. Mannfordmom, I didn't know there was a golf tourn. this weekend until it was brought up in the Tiger story. Most are now suggesting it has helped that tourn. more than hurt it with the extra media coverage of golf that Tiger has generated. Not really his problem or concern about a sponsor who dropped him, either way.
And, "only a golfer", Pick? What's that mean? Ali was only a boxer. Beckham's only a soccer player. Jordan was only a basketball player. If you hadn't noticed Pick, he is the weathiest, most well known "athlete" on the planet, and he didn't say he was holding a Q & A. He was issuing a statement. Hence the no questions. ??

Only sincerity was sorry he got caught. Never addressed the issue of hanging out in high dollar strip clubs guzzling vodka, chasing "escorts." Apparently that has been the guy's modus operandi for ten years and every golf journalist in the world knew it and not a single one ever stepped up and admitted it. Think a politician could have gotten away with that? He never even touched on being a lush. He's becoming the Sarah Palin of the sports world, just so shallow that many pray for him to just shut-up.

Isn't it interesting that the same writers that looked the other way when all this was going on are the ones that now want to ask questions?
Did you see where the Golf Writers Association of America (who knew there even was such an organization?) boycotted the Tiger press conference in protest - because he didn't allow questions?
Typical media (and that includes The Picker) attitude.... They think they are responsible for making the news rather than reporting it.

Tiger is a great golfer. He's a HORRIBLE liar. He's only sorry that he got caught. I hope his wife figures this out fast.
Tiger, "This is between ME and MY WIFE"
...and those other 18 or so women you were doing, right, Tiger?
Great talent down the crapper. I say cut your losses and work on your life. Good luck on that. In my eyes, you did not redeem your nasty, lying self.

Tiger used the members of the media for years to make himself the most wealthy and powerful name in sports, but now has nothing but contempt for the ones who stroked his massive ego.
Now that his secret life has been messily exposed, I guess he doesn't value any kind of journalist except the usual sycophant who will carefully spoon-feed the masses words extolling the virtues of the great Mr. Woods. Sorry, buddy, you have been exposed as a glossy candy shell with no delicious, satisfying center and it will take more than your damage control team to rebuild your previous hero-worshipping, no-questions-asked crowd of admirers.

Would someone refresh my memory? Wasn't Tiger once arrested in Tulsa for underage drinking back when he first joined the tour?.....b2r

Thanks for saying it about the F- Picker. I didn't seek it out but I was somewhere out and Mr. Woods 'press conference' was playing on TV ... didn't impress me. If he wants to do something he should just go play golf. He deliberately sold himself to the world as more than just a golfer because he was able because he was so good at golf. Complete hypocrite
And this is just for me, sorry to put it on a post on your article but
just a complete hypocrite like that woman who titles herself the masked assassin.

Sounds like he went to the Obama school of public speaking.
Say nothing and act sincere, what a load.
I would have respected him more if he would have said, 'Yea, kinda sad the old lady's gone, all I can say is what's done is done, lookout ho's here I come.'

You need to cut Tiger some slack for not taking questions, Picker.
My understanding is he wanted to stay and answer questions, but there was a shift change at the local Waffle House and he had to get while the getting was good.
He's an addict you know; can't help himself.

Hypocrite, DHTG? What are you talking about? I'd spend a little more time making sure my jumbled and moronic thoughts didn't end up that way in my post if I were you. Your IQ showed through and let me tell ya, it wasn't pretty.
Tiger owes no one anything. Just because he's a piece of crap for a husband doesn't mean he owes anyone an explanation about what he does in his private life. And just because he does commercials doesn't mean he gets held to a higher standard. He's a golfer, not a preacher. Go back to reading your National Enquirers.

Who cares? Tiger Woods plays golf. This shouldn't even be a major story.

We need more "feel-good" articles about scandalous affairs involving non-athletic types. You know; bowlers, touring chess professionals, ping-pong players, sports writers and golfers. These types always seem to be effected by addictions...

Out Pick The Picker
The Picker began entertaining – and infuriating – sports fans in 1993. Each week during football season, he writes about his picks of college and NFL games in his Thursday Sports column. He's never afraid of sharing his opinions about the game and the personalities who play it. Readers have a chance to go against him each season in the Outpick the Picker contest. He welcomes the competition.
