Webb’s commitment enhances TU's status as FBS option for local recruits

An apology to Metro Christian defensive tackle Zach Webb. When I blogged on the University of Tulsa commitment of Southlake Carroll (Texas) cornerback Ray Crockett II, the 6-foot-2, 276-pound Webb was omitted from my updated Golden Hurricane commitment list.

Webb’s commitment is significant for two reasons. First, it’s impossible to have too many interior linemen. Good ones are worth their weight in gold. Second, presuming that Webb does sign on Feb. 6, his presence strengthens TU’s status as an FBS option for Tulsa-area recruits.

If Webb signs, Metro Christian becomes the 16th Tulsa-area high school to be represented on the 2013 Golden Hurricane roster. Never before has a TU roster included players from as many as 16 area high schools.

Local schools with graduates already in the TU program, or with recruits who are expected to sign with the Hurricane on Feb. 6:

Bishop Kelley (Davis Walton).
Bixby (DeWitt Jennings).
Booker T. Washington (Derrick Alexander).
Cascia Hall (Conner Sherwood).
Claremore (Dylan Foxworth, Josh Cunningham).
East Central (Damian Gibson).
Glenpool (Marco Nelson).
Holland Hall (Billy LaFortune).
Jenks (Jake Alexander, Zack Langer, Matt Linscott, Trent Martin).
Lincoln Christian (Cody Wilson).
McLain (Shawn Jackson).
Memorial (Garrett Stafford, Patrick Jansen).
Metro Christian (Zach Webb).
Sapulpa (Trevor Toliver).
Sperry (Chris Wallace).
Union (Alec Henry, Brentom Todd, Thomas Roberson, Luke Snider, Cole Way, Chris Hall, Blake Mejia, Dalton Rodriguez).
