Weight Watchers and Film Watching

New Oklahoma State basketball coach Travis Ford, during a Friday basketball camp in Jenks, said point guard Byron Eaton has shed plenty of pounds this summer. But Eaton isn't the only Cowboy who is changing his body.
"Obi (Muonelo) looks like a different person when you see him," Ford said. "I wasn’t around him (last season), but everybody you talk to says he looks tremendous.
"Ibrahima (Thomas), he has gotten stronger. I told him strength is a big deal, but he has got to get mentally strong. I can’t coach that yet, but he has gotten bigger and stronger.
"I think everybody has improved. I think everybody will tell you James (Anderson) has gotten stronger. His stamina has gotten better and things like that with a natural progression between your freshman and going into your sophomore year hopefully. I would think everyone would tell you that they have gotten better."
Ford was asked if he has had a chance to get to know what kind of players he inherited now that he has had a few months to watch film. This is what he said:
"I have more familiarity with them, but not to the extent that I need to make any judgments or have any expectations or anything like that.
"I watch tape, but I don’t watch as much as people might think as far as going back and watching it. You know, it’s good to give yourself a feel watching tape, but tape also doesn’t tell you a whole lot. You can’t really tell athleticism or tell a lot of the little things by watching film. Plus, our style of play is a little bit different.
"I watch it because it doesn’t hurt to watch it, but again, I don’t try to make any decisions by just watching film or things like that. As far as understanding what the strengths and weaknesses of this team are, I have no idea yet. But I do feel like I know these guys better as people and what they bring to the table, but there are still a lot of question marks."
Ford said he is not going in "blind." He has got a little bit of a feel for what's in the cupboard.
"But not to the point where I know who is going to play what and things like that. It’s still really up in the air."
