We're Talking About Kids
Published: 9/23/2010 5:05 PM

I was waiting on another writer outside the Oklahoma State locker room on Thursday when the team started leaving for the practice field.
It has been a long time since I was a beat writer, and had daily interaction with players.
However, seeing the Cowboys in shorts and carrying shoulder pads toward the practice field reminded me of just how young they are.
We're talking kids. Once you see them walking to practice, you realize they really are just kids. Some of them looked like young teenagers.
When all you see is Saturday games, when they are in full gear with helmets, you forget we are talking about kids.
Remember that the next time you decide to yell something not nice about some player that might make a mistake and cost your favorite team a touchdown.

Excellent point, John. Thanks.

I think this was the point Gundy was making 3 years ago.

Good call Kleiner...I usually leave my yelling for the refs since C-USA seems to only hire those who are considered legally blind in most states. Chance...I think everyone knows the point Mike Gundy was trying to make, it was just how he did it and the fact he kept yelling "I'm 40, I'm a man". I don't think anyone begrudged him defending his player, but the way he worded it is still somewhat comical when you think about it.
