What About College Football Now?

Here's what the world is saying about the BCS: You stink. You're unfair. You're biased. You reward the rich and penalize the others. You're a SEC toy. You're pathetic. You're a disgrace. You're worthless.

Guess what. This very BCS will pick a "national champion" for two more long years!

The new four-team playoff doesn't start until the 2014 season, which begins that September.

Obviously contractural obligations limit the start time on the new system. So what happens for two more years, do we let the top two SEC teams play two straight games, one for the conference title, the next for the BCS title?

And about the panel that will pick the four teams for a playoff. This process is ready and waiting for bias. The committee members will be FROM SOMEWHERE! What are we supposed to do, get some people from Poland? Get somebody who knows nothing about football, like soccer players?

The four-team mini-playoff that will come into being after two more seasons of BCS bias makes the following statement ring true: Nothing could be worse than the way it is now.

Until we see the mini playoff system in action.

Internet rumor has it that YOUR name was submitted as a possible NCAA FBS BCS Selection Panel member and perhaps maybe even president, who, as a side perk, gets to select the other 10 members. Enjoy your new found national fame. NCAAFBSBCSSP President. Who woulda thunk it.

Jimmyd, you're saying we would take a $5 million bribe to muscle in a local or area team?

Mr. Picker,
The BCS was better than the old bowl system because at least you had a national championship game every. You didn't have all the teams in separate bowl games with the media and coaches picking the national champions. However, it's still a mediocre system, at best. I'm glad they have this four team playoff. Hopefully, they'll get people from varying geographic regions to serve on the selection committee.

Could the AP poll came back into fashion?

Might writers be more reliable than administrators and the like?
But What Do I Know? (8 months ago)
2017 - Playoff expands to 8 teams

2021 - Playoff expands to 16 teams

2023 - Playoff expands to 32 teams

2026 - Playoff expands to 64 teams + First Four

They need to come up with several agreed upon formulas based upon team performance and get rid of ALL human voting to come up with the playoff teams!

Except with the wildly varying scheduling, there's no common denominator!

A panel compromised of soccer players from Poland, it's the only answer
