What Bad Call?
Published: 9/25/2012 4:22 PM
Last Modified: 9/25/2012 4:22 PM

From where we sat, both temporary officials in the Green Bay-Seattle game appeared to have been well-placed for the call in the corner. And the call itself was beautifully signalled with excellent form and great posture.

Sure, one replacement ref called for a time out, but so he could consult the rule book and refresh himself on the tie goes to the offense proclamation. The other replacement ref signalled touchdown according to what we understand the letter of the rule to be: The person with the most arm on the football is considered to be rightful receiver.

The Green Bay player clearly had the ball by his chest and pads.

The Seattle player was all over the football with his forearms.

The tie goes to skin over pads.

And, as regards the alleged shove where the Seattle player was thought to have pushed a Green Bay player out of the way, clearly this was a matter of opinion. From where we sat, the Green Bay defender seemed to lose his balance on his own and tripped over a teammate on his way to the ground.

Do we feel this way because we picked Seattle and this turned out to be one of our few wins on the week?

It's possible.

Yeah, yeah, that's the ticket!

And the replay offical thought that with those refs so close to the action they must of had a better view than he did with the camera slowing it down to slow mo.......... Yeah, yeah, that's the ticket!

Glad I watched the A's and Rangers instead of another officiating nightmare. The Pats - Ravens was enough for me.

Oh yeah, I distinctly heard the Seattle player yell "shotgun" too, which gave him priority to the ball.

Exactly Grob, the Seattle guy called "Skins" instead of "Shirts" and therefore had priority.
