Over the weekend:

The PGA is a disgrace for what it did to Carl Pettersson, calling a two-stroke penalty on him because a mini-leaf moved during his swing in a hazard. That this rule is on the books is no excuse. It, and nonsensical garbage like it, should be taken from the books immediately. It is the equivalent of beheading somebody for glancing sideways at royalty.

Smiling Phil, the head pro at Stepford Country Club, seemed overjoyed to have shot whatever rotten score he shot.

McElroy is far more likely to break Jack's record than Tiger.

Tiger has hit denial on the head with his repeated statements that his game is just fine.

Foreigners are dominating golf, with one American in the PGA top six.

Belly putters are another way of saying I'm a choker.

Our quarterbacks, Weeden and Bradford, looked lousy over the weekend. Both looked slow when trying to get back into the pocket from under center. This would appear to be a plague of college spread offenses. Are both too slow afoot for the pros? Great quarterbacks have fast feet.

Hard Knocks on HBO is once again brilliant, the best reality show in the history of TV. The Miami coach appears to be far too nice for his job. The Aggie quarterback may be better than many pinheads thought.

The Olympics were terrific.

LeBron is light years the best in the pros. Westbrook is still too wild to be trusted with a big game on the line. Harden deserved more time. The Thunder is in trouble inside.

Costas thinks he is funnier than he is. Al Michaels was wasted. Ryan Seacrest was a loud flop. Tom Hammond was great at the track.

The USA men gymnasts were bad. The USA women of all sports were great.

None of the New York pro football teams might make the playoffs. Buffalo could have the worst offense in the history of the game. The Giants can't come close to repeating. The J-e-t-s, Jets, Jets, Jets are nuts, nuts, nuts. Tebow will be starting at quarterback sooner than later.

ha...always enjoy the quip about Mick being the head pro at the Stepford country club, pick....so very true...the smile is eerie, and usually out of place for the circumstance.

Think you may be right about Weeden being a mite slow footed. More time (if he is allowed it) will tell.
