What Super Bowl Were You Watching?
Published: 2/4/2008 3:21 PM

Tom Brady played like a fashion model.

Let that be a lesson, anybody with a show-biz girl friend, it's over.

He threw a fourth down pass OUT OF BOUNDS! Throwing a fourth down pass out of bounds is the equivalent of running up the white flag.

He overthrew people wide open in the end zone.

He held onto the football too long, displaying all the mobility of a member of the chain crew.

Stick a shuffleboard pole in the hands of the aging Pats, they're finished.

The first three quarters were terrible and boring. Defensive backs fell down. Runners tripped.

The last quarter was terrific.

The commercials were horrendous.

Worst of all, the old Dolphins are still newsworthy.

So, Picker,
No mention of your 17-point pick of the Patriots? Just like no mention of your Michigan pick to win the national title? Send in the clowns? Don't bother, they're here every Thursday with The Picker.

We've been through all this ad-nauseum. Picker nothing but negative. Picker says he's always right but doesn't admit when he's wrong. Picker can't give credit where credit is due. Yawn. This column is a giagantic bore.

Not as bad as your Big 12 Championship pick.
Two a days in about a half a year. I guess the the Back Up Sports will be written about until then.

This just in, little brother Eli now has more Super Bowl rings than, dare I say it...Dan Marino. To have your coming out party in the biggest game in the universe is oh so sweet! As a Dallas Cowboy fan forever, I don't like the Giants, never have, never will, but any fan of the sport had to be in awe of these Giants. 10 road wins, dealing with an 0-2 start, losing the Ada mouth himself, Jeremy Shockey, and playing this season without Tiki Barber. Who would have ever dreamed New York would have moved the victory parade from Boston to the Big Apple. Has anyone mentioned the REAL reason the Giants are Super Bowl Champions? It was their defense. Throughout the all road game playoffs, their defense came up with big third down stops and red zone shutdowns, limiting teams to field goals when they needed touchdowns. Recent history will object to this last statement, but it still rings true....defense wins championships. Congrats to the Giants, they deserve it.

Come on folks, lay off of World Picker. He can't help it if he was born stupid and never wised up.

It was hard to bet against NE. Straight up, no points, they were clearly the one to pick. In truth, taking NYG +12 was not betting against NE.

It became a bit of a band wagon jump to pick NE to cover by 17 as World Picker did.

On the other hand, refusing to take NYG +12 was a gotham sized error in judgment.

Walking up to the seller in CP's Sports Book on Saturday morning with anything on your mind except laying 11 to win 10 on NYG +12, taking the under @ 54.5 and the money line NYG @+330 would be nothing short of sports insanity.

I guess it isn't a gamble when you actually think about it. Maybe you should try it sometime, World Picker. Thinking, that is.

Doesn't anyone ever win a game in your world?

Is it always a poor performance, a bad call, a bonehead decision that decides the game.

all of the people are talking about someones pick wouldn't be if they had one.

its easy to give the picker crap after the game, did you do it before?
TS (5 years ago)
Hey we just give the picker crap because we thought they called him the picker for a reason (unless it really has something to do with his nose or butt). They call 'em doctors for a reason too, but if a heart surgeon got it wrong as often as the picker...they would be in jail.

My mistake was in not spotting the show-biz girl friend curse trend.

It is serious.

The only one still standing (barely) is the Spur guard married to the short housewife.

And married is different; girl friend is worth ten points against.

Nit Picker (5 years ago)
World Picker, how could you not spot the show-biz girl friend curse trend? You wrote about it enough when the Dallas Cowboys lost to NYG.
You must be going blind. You better stop doing that.

Out Pick The Picker

The Picker began entertaining – and infuriating – sports fans in 1993. Each week during football season, he writes about his picks of college and NFL games in his Thursday Sports column. He's never afraid of sharing his opinions about the game and the personalities who play it. Readers have a chance to go against him each season in the Outpick the Picker contest. He welcomes the competition.
