What Would Will Rogers Say?

Oklahoma should go to the Big 12 championship game and this is why: OU (4-1 against teams ranked in the top 14 of the BCS) played a more difficult schedule than Texas (3-1 against teams in the top 20 of the BCS) and because the entire body of work outweighs a head-to-head result. Against five common opponents, OU's point differential was 148. Texas' point differential was 90.
Texas should go to the Big 12 championship game and this is why: The Longhorns were one measly play away from being unbeaten in the regular season. They beat Oklahoma head-to-head. They are the only team in the Big 12 to beat both of the teams that will play in the Big 12 championship game.
Texas Tech should go to the Big 12 championship game and this is why: The Red Raiders shared the Big 12 South championship and, out of fairness, Tech has never got to represent the south in the league championship game. Plus, if OU and Texas are going to keep fighting over who should be in the Big 12 title game, let's treat them like kids and tell them "hey, since you guys can't play nice, neither one of you can go." And that would open the door for Texas Tech.
Baylor should go to the Big 12 championship game and this is why: The Bears nearly beat North Division champ Missouri in Waco and nearly beat Texas Tech in Lubbock in a season finale. They ended the season as the Big 12 South's third-hottest team.
Oklahoma State should go to the Big 12 championship game and this is why: The Cowboys beat Big 12 North champ Missouri in Columbia. They should take Mizzou's place in Arrowhead Stadium.
Texas A&M should not go to the Big 12 championship game, but, because evil computers are involved in the BCS formula, you never know.
Bottom line: The Big 12 used the BCS to decided a three-way tiebreaker. If Will Rogers was alive today, he would say that everyone complains about the weather and the BCS, but nobody does anything about it.

I guess attributing a Mark Twain quote to Will Rogers is why you're in the sports pages eh?....

Dear John-First -Comment:
Not every word of Will's was original.
(He) quoted a lot of folks,
not least among them, Mark Twain.

Jimmy,
How can you say BAYLOR ended the year as the 3rd hottest team in the South? Because they gave Tech a hard time? I believe the Cowboys gave Baylor a proper spanking not that long ago! Pleeeeeease! I usually enjoy your columns, but this one was a BIG reach. I agree that Baylor has improved, but not to the point you're trying to give them. Just one man's humble opinion. Have a great day.

I was being intentionally silly with Baylor, though the Bears are certainly on the rise.
Twain needs to have some guts and go by his real name instead of a fake one. He can't hold Stan Lee's jock.

In my opinion OU should repersent the south but in fairness to the other team's involved let OU play Texas in a tie breaker ,If OU wins they would be your undisputed south champion if they lose then TT should go or play Texas for the honor to repersent the south. Problem solved.

Who would have ever guessed that we would need a plus-one game just to decide the Big 12 south championship?
