What the.....?

The worse the OU football team plays on the field, the more its future is spun. Suddenly Venables can't coach a lick. Suddenly Mike Stoops is the cure-all, even though back when he was at OU, passing was not the fancy. Suddenly Landry Jones will get a whole lot better.

Why?

Because the homers want it to be so.

Everybody who enjoys OU football knows how important recruiting in Texas is. Switzer said, and says, it is everything. So on the list of 18 current Sooner recruits, published recently in this paper, here is something that really needs to be spun: OU has more recruits from Florida and California than it does Texas! It lists only four recruits from Texas! And a total of six from homesick locations in Florida and California.

The farther you recruit from home, the less likely the players are to stay around.

Regarding previous blogs titled: The Spread is Dead.

This condition has spread to the pros.

Everybody knows the SEC plays real man football, none of that 70 passes per game gimmickry.

In the pros, two of the three pass-nutty teams went down last weekend, New Orleans and Green Bay. When a pass-happy team has a bad day, and it always seems to happen, you're gone. One passing fancy remains, New England. And Baltimore figures to take it out this weekend.

And has anybody noticed that, same as is the case in the colleges, the pro teams that pass the most have the worst defenses: New Orleans, Green Bay, and, worst of all, New England.

If you can't practice against real men, you can't expect to defeat them in a game.

Passing all the time is a gimmick for the recently defeated.

Be careful what you ask for, OU "homers." You want to re-enact the Stoops Brothers Show, subjugating the loyal Brent Venables to shoveling pig-slop status, you've just about got it. But I predict you're not going to like the results. Little bro Mike isn't the defensive genius Big bro Bob thinks he is, and BV is just about to set foot for Tiger Territory, leaving Stoops Brothers University with no excuses for giving up boo-coo points in the pass-happy Big-12 next year.

What, OU is still paying football, I thought the season was over. I guess the Picker is having nightmares because he picked them to win. lol

Wonder why OSU is climbing up the win column?
This year, OSU has 9 recruits from Texas

Spread may be dead but Brady/Beli”cheat”
figure good luck trying to stop two 6’6”
250+lbs all pro Tight Ends who can just run over
all those 5’10” light weight defensive backs

Patriot TE's are FB's unleashed on DB's unslowed by linemaen & LB's.... It's still the passing game but done in a unique way, the Patriot defense won't win them a championship....

Basic football is basic for a reason, defense wins championships, ball control offense powered by a running game is a defense's best friend....

OU always has a seemingly great FB, but he never gets used in the Stoops system but he gets hyped in the preseason, why is that ????

A little RB sure could use a blocking FB....

Auburn won the national title in 2010 running the spread offense. OSU came close to playing for the national title while running the spread offense, and was able to successfully run the ball with this type of offense. Not sure how the spread is dead.

Did Green Bay win the Super Bowl last season and New Orleans win the title the season before, or am I just imagining?

Sooners will revamp the offense next year, utilizing FB and running the ball more to take a little pressure off the defense, which loses two excellent ends and its the best cover corner. If the receivers can overcome last season's case of the dropsies, the offense should score enough to propel OU to Big 12 title.
