Who Is OU's Tight End?

Somebody emailed that question today. Who is OU's tight end?

No idea.

We asked around.

Pedro Somebody? Lars Somebody? Somebody Johnson?

Nobody knew.

OU is a top 15 team known for its offense.

Five guys guys can get the football from the quarterback on offense. The fullback barely counts. He's a blocking machine. Every once in a while against an Iowa State he gets thrown a pass, juggles it, falls, snags it, and rolls out of bounds for a first down.

There's a runner and three receivers, two catchers being wide-outs.

That leaves the tight end.

This position is extremely important with national title contenders like Notre Dame.

Has OU's tight end even caught a pass this year?

Who is he? Why isn't he ever a part of the offense?

Have somebody ask Stoops at a press conference? Are you kidding? And get barked at? Maybe even thrown out? Asking where the tight end went is like asking about a pot raid. The only thing you get to ask at press conferences are things like, "How's the golf game?" "Is recruiting great as ever?"

Who's OU's tight end?

A former tackle?

Pick: Two out of the last three games, Landry has passed for at least 500 yards per game. Last week, D. Williams rushed for over 100 yards. What's a tight end? A bigger question/issue is who are the d-tackles and linebackers?

The OU's tight ends coach is Bruce Kittle. Here is his football coaching resume:
Grad. Assistant at Iowa from 1982-86
Head Coach at Northwest Junior HS from 2006-08
Assistant Coach at West HS from 08-09
Assistant Coach at Cedar Falls HS from 09-10
On Campus Recruiting Coordinator from 10-11
No wonder the tight ends don't catch any passes. Look who the tight ends coach is. Bob Stoops hired him because he was a friend, not because he was qualified to be a tight ends coach at OU.

When Oklahoma high school star Austin Haywood turned out to be a colossal bust, it really put OU behind the 8 ball at tight end. The hope going forward is 4 star Cali product Tyler McNamara, but he was a true freshman this year and sufferend a season ending injury. Admittedly, the depth at the position is not good. They need to recruit better.

Not sure, Picker, but if they are never going to throw to the tight end when he's on the field then they might as well put an extra offensive lineman at that position instead.

Either that or put Roy Finch on the field instead.

The NCAA told Stoops that he had to play without a TE because OU's offensive yard totals were too high.

Having an extra target for Landry would've been unfair to the competition.
