Who Needs the NBA -- We're in Shock

Opening day for Tulsa's new WNBA team is less than a month away.
Seats remain in the stands and on the bench as good fans and good players are being courted.
Coach Nolan Richardson is calling for 40 minutes of bedeveling play.
His new team will be comprised of relative unknowns to the female hoop circuit, as a number of WNBA players refused to come here from the previous team; being dissed by Detroiters, a technical foul to be sure.
One shocker is a former track star. Others averaged anywhere from a few points to some points for in-state teams.
As our new club will be up against some rugged veterans from the east, let's all keep in mind the true meaning of sport, sportsmanship, family, courage, community spirit, and a nice beverage.
We owe coach Nolan.
Tonight, veins show in Jack's neck as the stars at courtside put on their game faces, with the Lakers defeating the Thunder by 13.
The Kentucky Derby is Saturday, one to think about is the horse that ran second in the Arkansas Derby.

I must be confused. Are the Lakers and Thunder having a scrimmage tonight? I thought the game was tomorrow.

Mgsooner, it is tonight (4/27) and not yesterday as the Picker wrongly stated.
Then again, the Picker hasn't been right about much concerning this series thus far (being on the very wrong side of Saturday's outcome) so his error doesn't really surprise me.

A few years back, I was playing pickup Bball in a Nashville gym. One guy was decked out in UT orange - turned out, he was on the practice team the women scrimmaged against at UT. (Good gig, as his books and board were paid for.) Knowing that UT is a powerhouse women's program, I asked, "So, tell me, how good are they, really?" His reply: "I could take five guys out of this gym and beat 'em."

The Lakers by 13....
That's a bad pick....
The Thunder by 12, the Staples Center empties early tonight....
The Lakers are old experienced tired dogs & Kobe is fired up & he will bark loudly at his canine pack because they are not as ready as he his.... This will cause "meltdown #2" by the Laker squad....

*Cough* *Cough* Any comments about last night's playoff game result, Tulsandn?
Whoops.

How the Lakers lost two to these guys is something of a mystery.
Somebody loan the Thunder coach a pre-game speech.
PS: The Laker by double figures pick scores standing up.

That's weird, Pick. I don't remember it "standing up" last Saturday.

Who cares? It's the WNBA.

I see that the Picker has joined the pathetic chorus of Thunder hating that has been oozing out of the Tulsa media the entire season. I hope you enjoy watching that terrible second-rate product known as the WNBA, and don't let all of that bitterness affect your health.

Out Pick The Picker
The Picker began entertaining – and infuriating – sports fans in 1993. Each week during football season, he writes about his picks of college and NFL games in his Thursday Sports column. He's never afraid of sharing his opinions about the game and the personalities who play it. Readers have a chance to go against him each season in the Outpick the Picker contest. He welcomes the competition.
