Who's No. 1 in Big 12? Perhaps Nobody

Just like every week, I will attempt to rank every football team in the Big 12, top to bottom, in Tuesday's paper.
And, for the first time this season, I really have no clue as to what the pecking order should be.
Before this weekend, it seemed that the only thing that you could count on in regard to the Big 12 was that Oklahoma and Texas should be ranked either one or two.
And that gone blown to oblivion when both teams lost to North Division opponents Saturday. The North Division, by the way, was supposed to be weaker than watered down ketchup.
Now who's the alleged best team in the Big 12? Missouri?
If they didn't play games, this ranking stuff woiuld be so much easier.

Jimmie - Good luck with that! Here's my tip...start at the bottom with Iowa State or Baylor. After that you're on your own. (Thanks for your solid, positive writing.)

Well its hard to rank them considering not all the teams have have played a conference game ( Kansas and Missouri). The real rankings locally we should look at is the Big 12 south. The door this weekend just got opened for OSU to make its way atop the south.

Here's how I would rank them (for what it's worth):
1. Missori - They have an offense that can scare OU, even in Norman.

2. Oklahoma - Must shore up defense, or this could be worse.

3. Kansas State - Solid defense, great special teams play make them a contender.

4. Kansas - They've beaten cupcakes the way they should. We'll find out if they're for real this weekend.

5. Colorado - Young team growing up quickly.

6. Texas A&M - Beat who they're supposed to.

7. Nebraska - Same as A&M

8. Texas - Incosistent Offense, questionable defense, bad special teams

9. Oklahoma State - Good Offense, TERRIBLE defense

10. Texas Tech - Same as OSU

11. Baylor - Getting better, still more to do.

12. Iowa State - Terrible all the way around.

JD: We are not far off, except that you've got KU way higher than I do. The record of Jayhawk opponents is 4-15, so I need to see KU beat someone legit before I can give any props.

i would put ku after texas a&m. love your work
