Why Players Leave School for NFL
Published: 1/14/2013 4:29 PM

Media cheerleaders can't seem to understand why players from their beloved teams opt for the NFL instead of staying in college another season.

They cry: What's wrong with you people? Are you crazy? Come back and get more money next year.

Here are why players -- stars to those marginal -- are likely to opt for the NFL instead of one more year.

1. Risk of injury.

2. Next year's team could stink.

3. The player opting for the NFL has a grade point average of 0.0066 -- he is failing out of school big-time.

4. He can't stand the coaching staff.

Many of those returning for senior seasons have no intention (or possibility) of graduating either. They leave after football season.

We all get why some players leave early. Nothing earth-shattering about that. Can't blame them for rolling the dice and taking a shot at the NFL. Unfortunately, there isn't a college junior within 150 miles of here who has a snowballs chance of starting in the NFL. Most will struggle just to make the practice squad where they'll spend their days getting pummeled and laughed at by the starters. They'll never see the NFL money they hoped for and will wind up in a dead-end sales job, boring clients with their football stories. This time next year these jokers will be seriously missing their college days.

LSU has 8 under classman declaring for the NFL and all 8 are expected to be drafted by the 3rd round. Texas #3 rated 2009 recruiting class has 6 players left from that class on campus. Gee you don’t think recruiting or developing young talent has anything to do with underclassmen leaving for the NFL do you?

Solo your wrong on one player...Randle from OSU. While I think he could've improved his draft stock and made more money with another year in College. He'll still do well in the NFL and will likely play immediately as a third down back and has all the tools to be a starter.

The only way Randle will see immediate playing time is if he gets picked up by some loser org like KC or the Jags. He'll be missin' the athletic dorm shortly...

Apparently Solo does not watch football....

Look at the role Kendal Hunter played on the 49ers the past two years. He played immediately on what could be a championship team. I think Randle is better than Hunter and will make a better pro. We'll just have to see. Either way I do think he cost himself millions by coming out a year early. He likely would be been a second round pick next year this year he's no better than a 3rd to 4th rounder.

IMO. it would not have helped Randle to come back for another year. His stats were pretty comprable the last 2 seasons and if OSU Gundy goes with a running QB he will lose some carries. More running backs will be concered about what happened to SC running back (Marcus Lattimore) happening to them.

One misstep could ruin a career.

Pick, the fifth opt-out reason is next year he might be in jail.
