Wilson's chances at East Carolina just improved

Just saw this bit from Kevin Scarbinsky of the Birmingham News: "Mike Shula, the quarterbacks coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars, is happy in the NFL and plans to stay there."
That bodes well for Kevin Wilson, the Oklahoma offensive coordinator who was repotedly battling Shula, ex-Texas Tech D-coordinator Ruffin McNeill and current East Carolina O-coordinator Steve Shankweiler to replace Skip Holtz as East Carolina head coach.
Scarbinsky has a terrific reputation, and if he has a source close to Shula saying Shula isn't going to ECU, I'd bank on it.
To me, that makes it a two-coordinator race between Wilson, the native North Carolinian, and McNeill, the native North Carolinian and former ECU defensive back. If ECU AD Terry Holland really wanted Shankweiler, he would have made that quick transitional hire after Holtz left for South Florida last week.
I sort of think Wilson is about to become a head coach for the first time, but we'll see.
