Winning in Memphis

Tulsa's season comes down to winning in Memphis against the Tigers.
Win twice and the Golden Hurricane are in the NCAA Tournament for sure.
Win once and TU probably needs for the victory to come in March.
Tulsa has its last regular season shot at a significant victory, something to gloss up the resume for the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee, on Wednesday at Memphis.
Sure, it is hard. But, you don't get into the NCAA Tournament without winning some difficult games.
There are games back in the non-conference season that could have really helped TU.
Instead, it now comes down to winning in Memphis, either to get an automatic bid at the C-USA Tournament or this week.
This week a victory would greatly enhance the computer rankings. Not enough by itself to get Tulsa into the NCAAs.
However, winning at Memphis would be a signal that Tulsa is ready to get back on the national college basketball stage.

If Tulsa rolls into the CUSA title game on a 14-game winning streak, how could the committee justify keeping Tulsa out? They would be 20-2 (over the last 22 games) sitting in the CUSA title game. No way Tulsa is out with that resume, which would include a road win over Memphis. I am with you on this though Kliener, if you had to choose when Tulsa would win in Memphis, you definitely want it to happen in March. Takes all the suspense out. If they do it tomorrow, there is still a ton of work left to do. Tulsa may have another showdown with UAB to survive, and let me tell you, the game will be every bit the thriller it was at the RenCen.

This isn't last year's CUSA. The conference is a top-8 league for the first time since realignment. A win over Memphis tomorrow will definitely open the door to winning the league outright. Memphis has difficult road games at Houston and UAB left on the schedule. Tulsa can still win the league. And if it does, over Memphis, how is it left out? It's not.

That said, I seriously doubt Tulsa gets it done tomorrow night.
