Winning is Nice Change at OSU, OU, TU

Victories by Oklahoma State, Oklahoma and Tulsa on Wednesday were signficiant.
If for no other reason, victories by major college basketball teams have become rare this season in our state.
Still, OSU’s victory over a top 15 team was a good victory that could, with more victories over highly-ranked teams, put the Cowboys back in the discussion for the NCAA Tournament.
However, in reality, OSU will likely join OU and TU in needing a conference tournament victory in March to advance to the NCAA Tournament.
Yet, winning in February against respectable opponents is always good. The Cowboys beat Missouri, a virtual lock to reach the NCAA Tournament.
The Sooners beat Baylor, a team that reached the Elite Eight last year and had high expectations for this season.
And, Tulsa beat one of the Conference USA leaders on the road in Memphis.
The RPIratings.com at the start of this week had OSU at No. 57 with Oklahoma at 120 and Tulsa at 121.
Those can be improved but not nearly enough to give the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee a reason to look.
So, for OSU, OU and TU, it remains win and you’re in at the league tournaments.

I ain't necessarily saying it's gonna happen... But you said they can't even get to the point of the selection committee giving a look. Now what if OSU beats the sooners at home and then takes what sets up as a must win game at Nebraska. Now you're 5-5 in conference with odds that you end up 8-8. So, 8-8 with a little run in the conference tourney won't even get you a look?

Winning was a nice change of pace. Glad OSU, TU & OU shocked me yesterday. Great wins by all.

Bedlam should be a pretty decent game after all this year.

It's not inconceivable that OSU gets to 9-7 in conference. Of course Bedlam is always tough, but let's be honest - the LNC's home court advantage this season is a joke. And I really think OSU can beat Texas A&M at home. So the question mark game is at Nebraska. If OSU can get to 9-7, that would mean they won the last three games to close the season, and 7-3 in the last ten games. That would be good enough for an at-large. May be a tough road to hoe, but it's not impossible.

OU has impressed over the last few games, but I think it's a fluke. The win streak ends Saturday in Stillwater. And what's their best non-conference win? ORU? There's just no way.

If OU beats OSU they only need 3-4 wins to be a NCAA team.
