Wishing Bradford a piece of peace

Caught Sam Bradford on with John Holcomb and Dean Blevins Sunday night. He looks 10-15 pounds more muscular, but the personality hasn't changed a lick. Dude did his interview in shorts, smiled a lot and spoke in the same aw-shucks monotone we heard all last year when he lit up college football as a freshman quarterback.
It reminded me of a line Ivan Maisel used to begin a piece for ESPN.com last fall: "Sam Bradford has an ego that would fit in his back pocket."
This being the Sooners' official summer vacation -- two or three weeks from the end of final exams to the beginning of (wink, wink) voluntary workouts -- I also thought back to something Bradford told Maisel in that story, about the personal sacrifices that came with being OU's star quarterback.
""There are times where you say, 'Dang, I'm trying to eat. I'm trying to be normal here.'" Bradford said. "But you know, at times, it's nice that people appreciate what you're doing. At times, they just want to tell you, 'Good job.' That's fine. But sometimes you go somewhere and you think, maybe I shouldn't have come here."
I kind of hope for two or three weeks anyway, Bradford is able to go where he wants in relative peace. It'll be noisy around Norman again all too soon.
