Word We Need To Hear At Olympics: Fore!

This is a blog about a blog.
PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem just sent a memo to media folks that he is going to post a blog entry on PGATour.com advocating that the time is right for golf to be included as an Olympic sport.
And he's right.
Golf should be an Olympic sport -- the earliest possible date is 2016 -- and if they can't find a suitable course at the actual Olympic site (Chicago, home of Medinah CC, is one of the cities placing a bid for the 2016 Olympiad) then let's go ahead and let everyone know that perhaps Southern Hills could be made available as a satellite site for Olympic golf.
But, back to Finchem's memo, of course golf should be an Olympic sport, if for no other reason than badminton -- badminton!-- is an Olympic sport. There are birdies in badminton. There are birdies in golf. All sports with birdies should be treated the same.
Sure, golf already stages international competitions (golf has more Cups than Dixie) but Finchem is willing to plan in advance to make room on the Tour schedule for a once-every-four-years Olympic joust.
So, after we get golf added, perhaps us ugly Americans can go about the business of adding sports that would send Olympic ratings here through the roof: Football and NASCAR. Today, Talladega. Tomorrow, the world.

I'll go for that. A few years back they had a rodeo between the USA and Canada with the olympics with medals and all. I don't recall the outcome or even how it was done but something like that might be done before making it an offical olympic sport.
