Reid can run. But can he bowl?
A. Cuervo/Tulsa World

I could bring attention to the predictions I got right, but I'm here to admit the ones I got wrong.
1, I wrote in print that OSU would not go to a bowl game if the Cowboys failed to beat Houston. Wrong. The Cowboys will go bowling if they can secure one more victory and keep in mind that Baylor's quarterback suffered a season-ending injury. The Pokes get to play the Bears in Stillwater.
I made the prediction because I figured that OSU would not be able to beat Big 12 opponents if they could not vanquish a C-USA opponent. Who knew at that time that the Cowboys would blossom into perhaps the league's most explosive offensive team?
2, In the Tulsa World's preseason football preview, I picked Colorado to win the Big 12 North. I didn't have a reason to pick Colorado. I just didn't have a reason to make me fall in love with any of the other north teams. Perhaps they are all bad, or at least close enough to the parity equator to make it seem that way. Meanwhile, Colorado has proven to be the worst of the northern squads.
3, In Saturday's paper, I picked Missouri to beat Oklahoma even though I suspected Mizzou was a paper Tiger. Statistics of previous games indicated that Missouri struggled to run the football. Many of their games seemed to be something along the lines of 40 carries, 100 yards. And, matched against Oklahoma, the better running team came out on top.
So, why did I pick Missouri? Actually, I didn't. My laptop computer did. Our writers are required to pick the scores of 10 predetermined college games every week and I never pick the games myself. I have a numerical formula and I just punch numbers into my laptop and let the computer spit out the predictions. The computer said Missouri, even though my gut said Oklahoma. I vowed to stick with the computer's picks all year just to see how accurate the little fellow could be. Maybe someday he will grow up to be a BCS computer.
