I was wrong.
I thought it was fitting that Adrian Peterson did not finish his college career as Oklahoma's leading rusher. I knew he was a good player, but I didn't think he was in the same league with former Sooner Heisman Trophy winner Billy Sims.
Can I revise the opinion?
Speaking of leagues, Peterson set a single-game National Football League record for rushing yards against the San Diego Chargers, making him the biggest purple bomb to explode since Prince tried to craft a sequel to his first movie.
The rookie of the year race? It's over.

Uh yeah Jimmie - you were wrong by a mile. Peterson darn near broke Sims record and played alot fewer games.

Healthy, he is the best back in the NFL right now. Key word: Healthy. He would have no doubt shattered Sims' record if he were healthy for all 13 games last year. He is unreal. I have never, in 23 years of life (trying to make you feel old), seen anything like Adrian Peterson. Power. Speed. Agility. But he must stay healthy, if he does, who knows what records will fall.

He didn't break that record on Miami. That was a pretty good San Diego team he carved up like a Thanksgiving turkey. I thought his line gave him holes, but what he did after breaking the line of scrimmage bordered on something you might catch in the 'twilight zone.'

He is a thrill to watch.

BLAIR I totally agree with you.. Don't forget about his passion either, he is one of the most competetive guys I've seen. And sometimes, he would rather run into a blocker and punish him than try to juke him...that's just mean, he's an animal, he belongs in the wild.

The best bang for the buck I ever had in Fantasy football.

This is why I thought Sims was better in college. His per-carry average at OU was 6.94 yards. Peterson's per-carry average at OU was 5.4 yards. Sims got 4,118 yards on 593 carries. Peterson got 4,045 yards on 747 carries. But, it should be pointed out that Sims was a much older player in college (what was he, 25 during his senior year?) than Peterson.

Jimmie: Question. Why is Marc Ginther only rated a one-star quarterback???? I understand that he doesn't zing the ball like Brett Farve, (I can't get used to spelling his name backwards like granddaddy Favre must have), or have the escape-ability a la John Elway, but have you seen this guy ever lose a game by just flat out throwing too many picks, or not making the right reads? Please answer anything other than he is going to OSU on a baseball scolarship and therefore we don't really rate him too highly!

Look here fellas. Let's face it OU wasn't paying me enough to stick around and besides what was I gonna do hang out another year and risk getting hurt for a substandard team who can't finish. I should have been a LONGHORN, but OU was offering more money at the time.

Here's my guess on the recruiting services and Mark Ginther: The recruiting services are halfway legit and halfway goofy and I think no one is qualified to assess stars to high school kids or rank them 1-100 nationally. Many times, stars are given out based on who a kid says is recruiting him, which means absolutely nothing. Perhaps Ginther is being downgraded for his baseball intentions. Remember, Josh Fields wasn't drafted (if I remember correctly) by a baseball coming out of high school because he declared that he wanted to play football in college. As we all see now, he certainly was capable of playing Major League Baseball. My gut feeling is that Ginther is a competitor who can play major college football and no recruiting service can determine that for him. If he's got the right stuff and wants to play, it will happen.

You're right its over because now his knee injury will probably be worse than they think so thanks for jinxing my boy!!
Mac (5 years ago)
Instead of "All Day" he should be called Half-Season. He never played without getting injured somehow.
