Here is where we are.
Some say TU's loss to EC was heart-breaking.
It was in a way.
It was disgusting. Shocking. Horrifying. Absurd. Nonsensical. Tragic. Costly. Then heartbreaking.
As hard to believe as having three offensive players in to play defense on the last play of the game was TU's Junior High School Jerry decision to go for two points after its first touchdown. Such a Minnie Mouse decision can be the difference in a crowd of 15,000 or 30,000. A difference in millions in donations. A difference in careers.
The OU defensive coordinator's name was probably taken from the head coach search list of a few mid-majors after that performance against Outback State.
Chuck "Third and" Long is the offensive coordinator at Kansas, which hung a three-spot on North Canada State.
Future OU foes: Air Force is slightly better than Utah State, nice offense, no defense. The Florida State quarterback can't move around much. It has a great return game. Cincy stinks, was obliterated by Fresno State. Texas is way down from last year, boring, somewhat lumbering.
Washington State might not win a game.
LSU's Loopy Les solidified his place as the worst field coach in the history of team sports by refusing to take a knee late and fumbling and giving NC's third team a chance for the win.
South Carolina is better, fine freshman running back.
The K-State coach is one of the all-time greats. The Wildcat runner looks like OSU's Hunter, he's that good.
USC is in for a decade of horror.
Missouri has the next Welker in number 28, needs a run game, as always.
TCU is good, not great, would lose 2,3 in a real conference.
OU announcer Bob Barry is a good man, lo, a great man, a fine humanitarian, a nice guy, a prince, a brilliant representative of the school and the state. That said, listening to an OU game on the radio is like being slightly drunk. It is not a bad thing that there are few reasons to listen to an OU football game on the radio.

Mr. Picker, them of us what comes from North Dakota demand a retraction of your denigration of NDSU for its victory over a Big XII powerhouse. If the Big XII is the second best conference in all the land, NDSU is entitled to the proper respect.

RETRACTION
North Dakota State is twice as good as Kansas.

"LSU's Loopy Les solidified his place as the worst field coach in the history of team sports by refusing to take a knee late and fumbling and giving NC's third team a chance for the win."
I have to think Todd Graham is worse than Les Miles. After all...Miles has won a big game before.

The TU/ECU game left only questions, such as:
Did Tulsa recruit a place kicker after the third quarter?
Does the ECU coach eat lunch with Mark Mangino?
Does coach Patterson have compromising pictures of important people at TU?
Can Tulsa hold Houston to under 1,100 yards passing?
Are there five wins out there for TU?

Air Force's defense was one of the best in the nation last year. I didn't watch their first game this last week but I wouldn't think it would be awful.
Also, Kendall Hunter is the best offensive player in the Big 12. It's time for the media to wake up from their one year nap.

Air Force was top 15 in Division 1 FBS in total defense last season. If TU can find a way to win 6 games, it will be a tremendous season.

Take me out back and tie me to a fence post. I agree with Picker's every word.

Apropos of broadcasting: Am I the only one who wants Brent Musburger IN Jackson Hole and OFF television?
Judging from the blue in the stadium, the potato heads travel.

... and Mexi is right. Hunter is the best offensive player in the country.

My prediction all along has been that Tulsa will go 6-6, AND get a bowl game! I think it is now mathmatically impossible to win six and NOT go bowling. Thus, TU will be the first bowl team ever to average giving up 45 pts. and 500 yards per game. College football has reached the level of peewee soccer: everbody gets a trophy.

Personally, I'd pick the Okie St. QB before I'd take their RB....
I had Labor Day weekend responsibilities so I missed the OU "thing".... I dvr'd the Okie St. game & got to see part of the TU game....
Okie St. looked really really good....
TU was what I expected them to be, it's so sad to see a team with talent here & there have it wasted by a "coaching staff" that will be here & there next season....
Any OU fans tired of opening the season in same ol' fashion that is now becoming a trend.... The "entitlement" issues seem to be coming from the overpaid fat cat coaches with the laissez-faire attitude, not the players....

Agree with tulsandn... Really, how can you expect people to have the same hunger and work ethic after ten years of making way too much money and being told how wonderful you are? It's just human nature really... money changes everyone. Please see any pro sports league to illustrate my point. Hey Pick, why do you and so many others REFUSE to give Boise and TCU proper credit for being great football teams, regardless of the league they play in? The bigger, faster thing is too old and too easy of an excuse. I think the Boise running back distanced himself and from the athletic VA Tech defenders on his 70 yard TD(OU back Murray got chased down by Utah St many times Sat). Is there a better QB in the country than the kid from Boise? Please name him if you know of one... I know the one in Norman isnt even playing the same game as the Boise boy.

‘ol man Weedon is a winner, shows leadership capabilities, & throws accurately, quickly, & hits his receiver’s in stride. W/ run & go Hunter, another 9 win season is w/n reach.
Landry might have good mechanics, but he’s soft, looks nervous, & can be rattled. If OU “D” doesn’t step up, another Sooner nation “metdown” could occur.
Kinne looks comfortable & has grasped TU’s complex offensive scheme. To bad, they can’t stop anybody. It’s sad when you can score 7 TD’s & still loose the game.
Spurrier Gamecocks might actually make some “noise" in the SEC East this yr.
Bosie’s qb could be the best in the nation but do you really want them playing in the Nat’l Championship game when half the teams they play might not even make it to .500?
What folk’s forget, the reason them Bronco’s originally agreed to move to the MWC was to upgrade the ‘tuffness of their conference schedule.
Don’t be surprised to see both TCU & Utah undefeated when they meet the first week in November in Salt Lake. Same could be said when OSU plays @ K-St in Oct.
Could Kansas & Washington State meet in the Toilet Bowl? Is anyone outside of their own fan base ‘rooting for Nebraska & Mizzu to win?

Boise is flat out good. Virginia Tech was not bigger nor faster and certainly not smarter or better coached than Boise St. Boise St. will not lose a game because it was out coached this season and I don't care what league they play in, defeating Wyoming on the road and then Oregon State, and then thrashing their league is enough proof to me they deserve a chance to play for the whole thing. Same with TCU if they go undefeated. Everyone gives 'Bama credit for playing hack non-conference opponents and then going through the "tough" SEC which will be as soft as last year. LSU is awful, So Carolina will be a 7-5 dud, Florida is terrible this year and Georgia will win 10 games against the has beens and can't beat anyone else. 'Bama will get a ton of credit for beating Penn St. into paper pulp this weekend when we all know the Big 10 is not deserving of a single team ranked in the top 10. The talent in FBS is spread out as more and more top recruits clamor for playing now vs. playing for the perennial power. TCU looked fast, Boise St. looked shockingly fast and powerful to go with their always smart and savvy players
As for TU, someone should have instructed the DB's not to allow the guy to jump at all. A toss up like that is a melee and I have never seen a pass interference call on a play like that. Grab the shirt inside, don't let him jump, grab an arm on the way up, bump him, etc. but you don't let him get off the ground with balance and concentration. The going for 2 on 3 occasions was ridiculous...you never go for 2 before the 4th quarter and only if it is absolutely necessary. TU will be OK this year, 7-5 is still a possibility but outcome of the games will rest upon who gets to 3 defensive stops first, much like arena football. Offense seemed a bit slower than Gus' years, but produced as much and Kinne looks the part. Defense needs to do a better job of tackling in the secondary, thought the front 7 was solid and faster to the ball for Tulsa's D.
