Here's all the sports news that makes any sense.
Having the NCAA hoop tournament here is way better than the Olympics. Raises all around at the BOK. What's great is that the nearest other regional east is in Chicago, and the closest to the west is Denver, which means that everybody good in the heartland will be right here. Buy tickets fast, it should sell out in 35 minutes.
How could OU not have won a national championship with Adrian Peterson?
Here is the real top 5:
1. Florida
2. Miami.
3. Alabama.
4. Florida State.
5. LSU.
OU is in big trouble at Miami, no matter the outcome of the Miami-Virginia Tech game this weekend.
TU scores zero. Auburn scores 40-plus. Come back Gus! As predicted here three months ago, TU will be all out to finish above .500.
BYU was exposed for the slow bunch of mush it is.
The Dallas Cowboys need a quarterback, a coach and a defense. Otherwise it is in halfway decent shape. How silly does Romo look with his ball cap perfectly centered in backwards fashion. The only move that could improve the team is to fire the coach this second.
Media hustler Pete Carroll could be a choker.
The Texas Tech quarterback is Leach's best.
The Florida offense is nothing; the defense is something.
Believe it or not, Kansas State has the league's best runner in a guy named Thomas.
Baylor is still Baylor.
Nebraska has the right coach, even though he is often beaten deep.
This year's Heisman winner will be the worst passer in the history of the award.
ESPN's Chris Berman needs to go on home.
The Kansas City Chiefs should refund ticket money and call off the season.
Oklahoma State's defense looks cheap.

1. I'm glad for Tulsa on getting the NCAA Tourney. I grew up in Tulsa, but am currently in Norman. Hopefully, this will convince more people to go downtown at night.
2. Why OU didn't win a title with AD:
a. In 2004 and 2005, OU had a 1950's style offense with Chuck Long.
b. The OU defense was often lost and confused during AD's 3 years at OU.
c. In 2006, OU had a QB that threw punts for passes.
d. AD was injured quite a bit.
3. All Top 5 picks are good picks. It would be nice if they didn't rank teams until the regular season.
4. If OU plays like it did against BYU, they could be in for a long day against Miami.
5. TU could finish 9-3. With the exception of Houston and Boise State, all the other games are winnable. However, I see them going 8-4 or 7-5.
6. On a given day, BYU can beat a top-notch team. However, they don't have enough talent to do that consistently.
7. I couldn't agree with you more on the Dallas Cowboys.
8. USC losing to Stanford and now Washington is not good. I don't know what the deal is with them. They beat the top teams, then choke against the unranked teams.
9. Potts played well. It's too early to tell if it is Leach's best. However, he looks good. BTW, that should have been a personal foul penalty on Texas on Potts fumble in the 4th qtr. The NFL goes to extra lengths to protect the QBs. Yet, the NCAA doesn't seem to protect the QBs at all.
10. I don't think Tim Tebow will be any good in the NFL. He is a running QB but is not a very good passer. Florida's defense is probably the best in the nation.
11. Too bad K-State has no one else on the offense that's any good.
12. Baylor is still not very good. I do think they are a little bit better than they were, though.
13. Pelini's a good coach. However, the defensive backfield will cost Nebraska some more games this year. I would've sent more men after Tyrod Taylor on that 3rd and goal play.
14. I disagree with you on the Heisman winner. I actually think it will be Colt McCoy. However, you may be right. Tim Tebow could still win it.
15. Why should Chris Berman go home?
16. The Chiefs are an embarrassment to the NFL. 17. OSU's defense looks lousy. If they continue to play defense like that, OSU will be in for a long day when they play Kansas, Texas, and OU.

Berman reminds me of the perverted uncle who tries to act cool....

Hey Pick, didnt you just last week say Pete Carroll was far and away the best college coach going. No doubt OU has lost some games they shouldnt have but NEVER to a team that is one game removed from an 0-12 embarrassment... I dont who the coach was or now is, this is USC we're talkin about. They get ANYONE they want to come there and play.

Dallas needs to fire their general manager. That idiot thought Quincy Carter would be a great NFL quarterback, picks up thugs and head cases, and hires mediocre coaches and gets rid of good ones.He actually makes Al Davis (sent a mediocre team to the Super Bowl not that long ago) look like he knows what's going on.
The Picker

What it comes down to with Carroll I guess is which would you rather lose, a little game, or a big game.
Lose a little game early, you can come back.
Lose a big game later, it's over.
That USC guy did write the book on losing little games. Of course, his quarterack was hurt.

Odds on the following OU results before bowls:
Going undefeated: 4 percent.
Losing 1: 20 percent.
Losing 2: 70 percent.Losing 3: 6 percent.
Ignatz
Already lost one, Picker so you think they'll lose 2 more. Texas and who else?
dcood
I love how the Picker can make whatever he says make sense, no matter how he contradicts himself. The best coach around doesnt lose to Washington, period. Dont give me the when you lose or losing the 'little' or 'big' games. When you lose to Oregon St or Washington or Stanford, you dont get to play in the big game. When was the last time OU lost to an inferior Big 12 opponent? Probably OSU in '01... One of two home losses for OU this decade!
dcood
...and wasnt OU's QB, who is pretty decent, hurt in the BYU loss?
Kat Hat
Yeah... What dcood said... Anybody really think that we wouldn't have gotten a score when we needed it had Bradford been behind center as opposed to a redshirt freshman stepping on a college field for the first time in his life? But the media ignored that, now didn't they? Why not give OU the same courtesy given to USC? I suppose since the NCAA doesn't give OU the same courtesy given to USC it's not surprising the media doesn't either...
As for the Dallas Cowboys... I despise Tony Romo, even though I have been a Cowboys fan my whole life... He's a choker...

"Yeah, Miami will be a difficult game. Hopefully closer than the OSU/Houston game. But then that was in Stillwater wasn't it? That game was over the minute OSU players read the newspaper Sunday after beating a pathetic Georgia team."
Riiiiiiight, tattoo.
OU lost to a marginal BYU team, in a home game, with 36 BYU fans attending. Don't complain about it, OU wanted to play in Dallas.
I am assuming your ego still wants you to believe that BYU is a better team then Georgia, am I right?
You are a silly little boy. UGA would easily handle BYU.
Time to start being more realistic with your own team. OU is not all that great. The O-Line and lack of a serious WR threat outside of Broyles means bad news for OU against any good team. UT and Miami will be trouble.
But, believe me tattoo, I am not immune to my own team's problems. OSU seems to lack defensive presence and can't seem to get a running game started.
I see OSU losing 3-4 games, and OU losing 2 (maybe 3 if they lose to Miami).

Haha tattoo,
Good job actually trying to refute my point made above. I didn't know that you were so good at making relevant points.
You should be a politician, you are so smart.
Keep up the lame comebacks, loser. I will be here, with actual points to back up my claims.
By the way, since when have you EVER picked an actual winner. You just want to come talk about it after the game is over.
UT by 14 over OU. Hold me to it. I will at least be man enough to eat my crow if I am wrong.
You will just sit around, trying to insult everyone and their mothers. With no actual facts or picks to prove anything.
Well done, good sir. Well done.Oh, and by the way, the Miami game is a toss up. I think Miami by 10 but haven't decided yet until I see the game this weekend.

Also tattoo,
Just an FYI, that UGA win that OSU has keeps looking better and better after South Carolina beat #4 Ole Miss last night.
Just the facts, silly boy. Just the facts.

The odds on OU going undefeated before the bowls:
0% - They already lost one.
Keenin

I had forgotten the playground antics that go on in the comments on here! lol Always a good read!
Percent chance that OU goes undefeated from here on out until the bowl games (which is what the Picker meant) is probably around 1%. Maybe a loss to Miami, probably a loss to Texas and then probably a 2-1 record in the three "L" games (@ Lawrence, @ Lincoln, @ Lubbock.....) will probably mean a 9-3 season for the Sooners, with 8-4 not out of the question. That road schedule is a mean one.
The Sooner D is awesome, but the offense beating up on Idaho State and Tulsa proves absolutely nothing about how good they are. The out matched and over powered both teams. Miami will be the measuring stick for sure.
OSU's win over Georgia does look better the more UGA wins. Holding the offense to 10 when it had scored 30 and 50 in the 2 games after it makes the win look better regardless of if OSU's D actually had anything to do with making it happen. By the end of the year everyone will have forgotten (for the most part) that Cox was sick.
OSU's Cox (Perrish) did a fantastic job on that reciever Green no matter how you slice it. He is a stud.
Houston is a for real team. Most likely 10 wins this year. OSU should have beat them, but playing the way they did they are lucky to only lose by ten. How many turn overs was it, 3? 4? It could have been far worse. I think Houston will beat Tech tomorrow. Enjoy Coach Sumlin, Houston. He may be gone next year....
OSU will probably go 8-4 or 9-3 also. A loss to Texas and a loss to OU seem likely, but finding one more loss that is a given in there is hard. Baylor on the road will be tough, and Mizzou at Stilly will be too but i think OSU can go 1-1 or 2-0 in those but other than that i think they are all wins. Tech seems to always go to the home team lately when they play, so i think that's an OSU win.
I think after beating up on Grambling to get the kinks out of the system and then the week off to get people healthy OSU will be fine. Look at how having Idaho State to practice on helped OU right the ship.
It's a long season still and both teams have a lot left to play for and to prove. I will enjoy watching it!

Tattoo,
I wasn't "man" enough to post on a message board?
You mean, I don't post 34 times on each Picker blog like you do?
Oh, I see your point, creepy internet loser.
Next point, I never celebrated any OU loss. Did you ever see me do that? The answer is no.
I am not talking smack about OU or any team actually. I don't hide, I simply love to point out how stupid you really are.
And finally, when a team (in this case Georgia) beats SC (when they did) who then in turn beats #4 Ole Miss, that makes said team (Georgia) look better.
Don't you think if BYU kept winning, that it would LOOK better for OU? Don't answer, I know what you will say.
In conclusion, I never hide from anything, moron.
I always am here, but I don't comment 104 times a day like you.
If you want to believe that I hide, fine. If you want to believe that UGA is overrated, fine. If you want to think OU is amazing and wonderful, fine.
I will keep on living my life in the real world, and pointing out your silly, stale arguments.
Keep it up, child.

Also tattoo,
"If you believe so much in your game picking ability, don't tell me. I am not a bookie."
By the way, you ASKED me to make a pick on a game. See your above posts.
Geez, you are slow.
OutPickMyNose
Tattoo,
Go find my post where I was "all over OU".
This might take awhile, so good luck with that, loser.
You still never actually respond to anything, just come back with stale insults.
I guess since you are so dumb, I have to do this so you can see why I made a pick for you:
"Put your money (if you have any left over after buying beer) where your mouth is and place a bet, air head." - tattoo
"I doubt you could pick a winner out of your nose." - tattoo
That was your comment, so I gave you a winner.
You are never gonna make it in this world, tattoo. Not with your mental state.
Comical.

For the record, I have plenty of family that went to OU, and certainly did not want them to get beat by BYU.
I am not an OU hater.
Only someone without facts to back them up, like tattoo, would make that up.

Tattoo,I never said you claimed to be a great picker! Where did I say that? All I said was that you ASKED ME FOR A PICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Arguing with you is like trying to teach the English language to a North Korean.
It never works.
Good luck with your pitiful life, and keep up the seriously irrational comments!
Look forward to it.
I am done here, I guess you can claim victory. Good job, dude!PS: I will still be waiting for you to find the comment that I "made" about OU after the BYU loss. Along with many other lies that you make.
