This story's photo of Under The Sun Garden Center is the company’s store at 5151 S. Harvard Ave., which opened earlier this year. The company’s other two Tulsa locations are at 8998 S. Sheridan Road and 5050 S. Lewis Ave.

Under The Sun Garden Center, a local gardening shop that offers seasonal flowering plants as well as home and holiday decor, has began to franchise its operations.

Owner Craig Bay says the company is thrilled to begin franchising their operations.

"We are looking forward to sharing our unique brand, quality products and exceptional customer service in the gardening industry with other cities throughout the United States," Bay said.

The garden center's slogan is "For Blooming Everything." The company focuses on annuals, perennials, herbs and hanging baskets, all with lots of color and variety.

The stores don't carry gardening items such as hoses and rakes.

Under The Sun started out as Tulsa Flowers in May 1992, at the corner of 41st Street and Hudson Avenue, where Bay sold spring flowers from a tent. In 1994, Bay opened a store at the corner of 91st Street and Sheridan Road, and it became Under The Sun Garden Center in 1999.

The company currently has three locations in Tulsa -- 8998 S. Sheridan Road, 4909 E. 41st St. and 505 S. Lewis Ave.; a location at 1000 W. Will Rogers Blvd. in Claremore; four locations in Oklahoma City; and one in Edmond.

Bay is owner, while his wife, Amy, is chief creative officer of the company. She is in charge of architecture, interior design, and the purchase of all hard goods that the garden center sells.

For more information, visit the center's Web site at www.tulsaworld.com/underthesun or call the franchise sales department at (813) 425-4366.
