BOK Center top winner at ABC construction awards

Thirty-four commercial construction projects received awards in 44 separate categories in the 2008 Excellence in Construction Awards Program, an annual statewide event held by the Associated Builders and Contractors of Oklahoma. Winners were honored at ceremonies recently held at Tulsa's Greenwood Cultural Center.

A panel of judges from another ABC chapter selected the category winners, designed to recognize the "Best of the Best" in commercial and industrial construction, by ABC of Oklahoma members.

The Outstanding Project of the Year award was given to Tulsa Vision Builders, a joint venture of Flintco Inc. and Manhattan Construction Co., BOK Center.

The BOK Center also received six other awards. Children's Hospital at St. Francis Hospital received three awards, and two awards were presented for Glenpool Centennial Park.

The winners included (Tulsa project unless otherwise indicated):

Commercial under $1 million: Flintco Inc., Tulsa Zoo eagle exhibit renovation.

Commercial $1 million-$2 million: Oakridge Builders Inc., First Fidelity Midtown Tulsa branch.

Commercial $2 million-$5 million: Oakridge Builders Inc., Buddy LaFortune Community Center and the Herman & Kate Kaiser Library.

Commercial $5 million-$10 million: Flintco Inc., W.L. Hutcherson Family YMCA.

Commercial $10 million-$25 million: Fleming Building Co., Regal Plaza Convention Center in Bixby.

Commercial over $25 million:
Tulsa Vision Builders, Tulsa BOK Center.

Electrical Commercial under $1 million: Central Electric Company of Tulsa, Gold's Gym and Retail Center.

Electrical Commercial $1 million-$2 million: Oil Capital Electric LLC, OU Memorial Stadium and Switzer-Stoops office renovation.

Electrical Commercial $2 million-$5 million: Colburn Electric, Utica Place.

Electrical Commercial $5 million-$10 million: Marrs Electric, Children's Hospital electrical work.

Electrical Commercial over $10 million: Oil Capital Electric LLC, BOK Center.

Electrical Industrial $2 million-$10 million: Oil Capital Electric LLC, Harry D. Mattison Power Project in Tontitown, Ark.

Specialty Construction Glass $1 million-$5 million: Advantage Glass Inc., BOK Center.

Specialty Construction Glass $5 million-$10 million: American Glass Inc., BOK Center.

Specialty Construction Cast-in-Place Concrete under $4 million: Contera Concrete Company LLC, Mattison, Southwest and Riverside Power Stations in Tontitown, Ark., and Jenks and Anadarko.

Specialty Construction Cast-in-Place Concrete $4 million-$8 million: Oakridge Builders Inc., BOK Center.

Specialty Construction Cast-in-Place Concrete over $8 million: Cantera Concrete Company LLC, Children's Hospital at St. Francis.

Specialty Construction Precast Concrete under $4 million: Tulsa Dynaspan Inc., BOK Center.

Specialty Construction, Precast Concrete over $4 million: CoreSlab Structures (Okla.) Inc., Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation parking facility.

Specialty Construction Engineering: Building & Earth Sciences Inc., Mercy Hospital Systems of Northwest Arkansas project.

Specialty Construction Low Voltage: York Electronic Systems Inc., Bordertown Bingo and Casino Surveillance System Retrofit in Wyandotte.

Specialty Construction Glass Under $1 million: Advantage Glass Inc., Glenpool Centennial Park.

Institutional $2 million-$5 million: Flintco Inc., Rosa Parks Early Childhood Development Center.

Institutional $5 million-$10 million: Flintco Inc., Christ the King Early Childhood Development Center and Chapel.

Institutional $10 million-$15 million: Manhattan Construction Co. Inc., Our Lady of Clear Creek Monastery, Phase II.

Industrial $15 million-$25 million: Crossland Construction Co. Inc., Warren Cat facility in northern Tulsa County.

Industrial over $25 million: Flintco Inc., U.S. Postal Service Oklahoma City Processing & Distribution Center.

Health care $2 million-$5 million: Flintco Inc., Southwest Oklahoma Cancer Centers LLC (Duncan Regional, Comanche County Memorial and Jackson County Hospitals).

Health care $5 million-$15 million: Manhattan Construction Co. Inc., Southwest Oklahoma Cancer Centers LLCOU/Tulsa Cancer/Diabetes Center.

Health care $15 million-$25 million: Oakridge Builders Inc., Muskogee Regional Medical Center westside expansion.

Health care over $25 million: Manhattan Construction Co. Inc., Children's Hospital at St. Francis.

Renovation under $2 million: Flintco Inc., Tulsa County Courthouse first floor remodel.

Renovation $2 million-$5 million: L.D. Kerns Contractors Inc., Brown Mackie College of Tulsa.

Renovation $5 million-$10 million: Manhattan Construction Co. Inc., Tulsa Ballet.

Renovation over $10 million: Crossland Construction Co. Inc., Owasso High School.

Historical Renovation under $1 million: Magnum Construction Inc., Broken Arrow Historical Society log cabin preservation.

Historical Restoration $1 million-$2 million: Flintco Inc., addition and restoration of the 1920 Travis Mansion.

Historical Restoration $2 million-$10 million: Trigon General Contractors & Construction Managers, St. Joseph Monastery in Tulsa.

Pre-engineered Building $2 million-$10 million: Fleming Building Co., Tulsa Saturn project.

Pre-engineered Building over $10 million: Manhattan Construction Co. Inc., Otoe-Missouria Tribe's First Council Casino near Newkirk.

Infrastructure Heavy $5 million-$10 million: Flintco Inc., Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation parking facility.

Interior Finish: Green Country Interiors Inc., Quapaw Tribe Downstream Casino Resort.

Exterior Finish: Green Country Interiors Inc., Quapaw Tribe Downstream Casino Resort.

Other General Construction: Flintco Inc., Glenpool Centennial Park.

Associated Builders and Contractors of Oklahoma represents some 300 member firms within the state. The Oklahoma chapter's headquarters is in Broken Arrow.
