OKLAHOMA CITY — AAA Oklahoma is expanding its program to give drinkers a ride home to now include the Thanksgiving holiday.

AAA spokesman Chuck Mai says the program will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday and run until 10 p.m. Sunday in Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Muskogee, Ardmore, Enid, Lawton and Shawnee.

The program allows people who believe they've had too much to drink to call for a free ride home.

The service is offered at no charge, no questions asked. AAA will give you and your car a free ride home within a 15-mile radius from the point of pickup, day or night, during the four-day Thanksgiving holiday period.

No excuses folks! Take the tow, call a cab, or what the heck, walk.

I wonder how many people actually take advantage of this service?

I believe the TPD has statistics on those that did not call.

Sort of makes the service moot when TPD is known to pull over taxi cabs and arrest passengers for public drunk.
I know someone this happened to, and it really sends the wrong message.

Would be nice to be able to walk home, after drinking, and not get a public intox rap.

Tipsy tow sounds like a great idea. I hope everyone who needs it, can use it.
