1/2 cent road tax passes vote

With all polling location reporting from the special election on the 1/2 cent sales tax for road improvements of 274 total voters, 177 voted yes and 97 voted no.

Cooper takes plea deal for first degree burglary

Jenny Lynd Cooper of Skiatook took a plea deal in Tulsa County January 27 for first degree burglary.

MATTHEW STEVENSON, OBIT

Matthew Stevenson Matthew David Ahwe Stevenson, 20, of Skiatook, Oklahoma passed away on January 27, 2016. He was born in Claremore, Oklahoma on April 21, 1995 to Derrick and Penny (Boulware) Stevenson. He worked as a tree Trimmer for Jakes Tree Service. Matthew is survived by his parents Derrick Stevenson and Penny Boulware, a son Henry Robinson, a sister Cassaundra Stevenson, a brother Austyn Stevenson, paternal grandmother Pamela McCray, maternal grandparents Thomas William Boulware and Sherrill Ann Burke. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Larry McCray. Private family services will be held at a later date. Cremation services were under the direction of Peters-Stumpff Funeral Home.

Sperry students named to Mideast Oklahoma Honor Band

Several Sperry Band students recently earned chairs in the Mideast Oklahoma Honor Band. Schools from around the area traveled to Cleveland High School on January 18 to audition for a chance to be part of this select Oklahoma band. The auditions consisted of required scales, selected music, and sight reading performed before a panel of judges. Students who scored highest were selected to comprise three honor bands: Seventh Grade, Junior High, and High School.
