Death toll revised to 24; search for survivors continues

Lincoln, McClain, Oklahoma and Pottawatomie counties are named in the federal disaster declaration as well as Cleveland County. The storm has resulted in at least 24 deaths, including seven children from an elementary school, and 237 injuries.

Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence Academic Awards

Since the first Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence Academic Awards Banquet in 1987, the foundation has awarded more than $3.9 million in merit-based scholarships and awards to recognize outstanding students and innovative educators.

The foundation also invests in public education year-round through programs that support the growth of public school foundations, provide quality professional development for teachers, strengthen American history and civics teaching and promote youth mentoring as a positive step toward academic achievement.

Last year, the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence, together with its partners, awarded more than $576,000 directly benefiting Oklahoma’s students and teachers.
