The husband-and-wife team of political operators, James Carville and Mary Matalin, have canceled their Tulsa appearance, which had been scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday at the Mabee Center on the Oral Roberts University campus.
Jerry Neal with ICC Entertainment said efforts are being made to reschedule the event for mid-October to give Carville, a leading figure in Democratic circles, and Matalin, a Republican activist, the chance to share their often-conflicting ideas about the presidential campaigns before Election Day.
Those who had purchased tickets for the Monday appearance will need to call the Mabee Center ticket office, 495-6000, to obtain information about refunds.
Carville and Matalin came to national attention through their work during the 1992 presidential campaign, with Carville working for Bill Clinton (a job chronicled in the documentary "The War Room") while Matalin was involved with George H.W. Bush's re-election bid.
The two married in 1993, and have said that they never discuss politics at home. This could be because the couple is rarely at home, as they continued to pursue careers as broadcast pundits on a wide range of TV talk shows, and as strategists for candidates with their respective political parties.
Carville has also done some work as an actor, appearing in films such as "The People vs. Larry Flint" and "Old School," and was an executive producer of the recent adaptation of "All the King's Men," which starred Sean Penn.
Matalin appeared with her husband
in the HBO TV series "K Street," in addition to working for Republican National Committee Chairman Lee Atwater, and serving on the staff of Vice President Dick Cheney.
