A Guthrie soldier has been killed in a "non-hostile gunshot incident" in Iraq, the U.S. Army reported Monday.
He was one of two soldiers from units based at Fort Carson, Colo., who died Saturday in Iraq, Fort Carson officials reported.
The Guthrie casualty was identified as Spc. Stephen M. Scott, 21, who was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters
Troop, 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment.
Scott's death from a "non-hostile gunshot incident" near Fallujah was under investigation, Fort Carson said.
Memorial services for Scott are expected to be held next week at Fort Carson, a public information officer for the base said.
The Army also reported the death of Pfc. Vorn J. Mack of Orangeburg, S.C., who drowned
near Hadithah Dam, west of Ar Ramadi.
Mack was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 1st Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment.
Memorial services for Mack were pending, a Fort Carson spokesman said.
Sixteen Fort Carson soldiers have died in Iraq, it was reported.
