An Oklahoma City soldier died in combat in Iraq on Sunday, the military said Monday in a statement.

Sgt. Carl W. Lee, 23, of Oklahoma City, died in Ramadi, Iraq, when his unit was conducting a dismounted patrol and encountered "enemy forces using small arms fire," the Department of Defense said.

Lee was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, the statement said.
