Workers conducted a successful test lift of the buried 1957 Plymouth Belvedere on Thursday afternoon.

Tulsarama Chairwoman Sharon King Davis said she feels "much better" about the condition of car, which was found in standing water Wednesday when the lid was removed from the vault where it has been buried for the last 50 years in the Tulsa County Courthouse lawn.

The Belvedere's distinctive tailfins have poked through its protective wrapping and appeared to be in good condition Thursday.

A 120-ton crane has been moved into place to lift the Belvedere from its vault at noon Friday. It will then be taken to the Convention Center Arena, where its vacuum-sealed cover will be removed at 7 p.m.

Honestly, on the news you could see the fenders and they looked white and shiny.

My husband and son are on their way right now from Indiana. They have waited for a year for this and can't wait to see how this Plymouth held up. My son turned 40 on Tuesday and this is one of the greatest birthdays he says he has ever had.

I hope they don't clean it up. I want to see it right out of the vault.

Hooray!! i hope it is still intact. having been born in 1957, [i was just under 2 mo. old when it was buried], it has special sentiment. it was a golden era. the world in so many ways looked brighter. not all of our past has been so great. we had wars, segrigation, and many problems. but the cars, and music from that era bridged the gaps we had as humans and helped us see that we're not so different as we sometimes believe. looking at the clips from when it was placed there, just makes you want to have been there. the whole look of tulsa, and the special time that was. seeing the car come out, hopefully in good condition helps us forget our problems and relive those special moments once again. as for me, oh yeah, i'll be there!!!

The condition of the car is important, but what about the contents of the time capsule.

It will be very exciting to see what items

were put in the car.

One thing is for sure is all the attention this event is getting, good or bad, this is for Tulsa and its people.I may not agree with all the negative comments, after all this is freedom to do what America does, isn't it wonderful.

This whole thing is fascinating. I've been following this for a couple of years, and can't wait to see the car unveiled, regardless of its condition! The volunteers who buried it were working unselfishly to benefit Tulsa, as are those who are digging it up. Give them a break, folks. They are mostly volunteers who have given many hours to a public service project that has brought world wide attention to your city. Certainly they have made mistakes, but they had noble intentions, and deserve your support, not critical remarks. These people don't bury and dig time capsules for a living. If you want to help make it better, I'm sure your time and energy would be more welcome than your negative remarks. Thanks to all who have give their time to this project!
