A recently opened restaurant in west Tulsa prides itself in authentic Mexican cuisine and friendly service.

Beto's Mexican Grill, 1709 Southwest Blvd., offers dishes that range from traditional favorites such as enchiladas, burritos and quesadillas to a variety of seafood.

The restaurant, operated by Jesse Suarez and his wife, Corina Suarez, offers dine-in, carry-out and delivery service.

Corina Suarez said everything that can be made by hand is prepared that way at Beto's, from tamales and tacos to chips and salsa, guacamole, and other items. Mexican soft drinks and other beverages are available as well, as are a variety of soups and salad.

"It really is authentic Mexican food," Corina Suarez, originally from Mexico City, said. "We make everything from scratch."

Adding to the restaurant's character are breakfast offerings such as chorizo, a Mexican sausage, or omelettes that are served up daily starting at 5 a.m., Suarez said.

She said breakfast has become one of the restaurant's busiest times.

Though breakfast dishes have gained favor among visitors to Beto's, one menu item stands out as a favorite, Suarez said.

"The House Burrito is the favorite," she said. "That's number one."

The restaurant's head chef, Beto Dela Cruz, who counts seafood among his specialties, recommends that visitors try one of the handful of shrimp dishes, he said. Fish dishes and red snapper also are on the menu.

Suarez said Beto's already has some regular customers who don't need to consult the menu.

One customer, Wye Young, who operates the Wye Nott Factory salon near the restaurant, said she loves the food and the service at Beto's.

"I love the tacos, the flautas, and, of course the chips," she said.

"We definitely needed more flavor in this area."

The restaurant is open from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and closes at 3 p.m. on Sundays.
