Oklahoma jets rain bombs on al-Qaeda base

The latest on this story:
Tulsa-based fliers bomb al-Qaida camp
F-16s deployed from the Oklahoma Air National Guard's 138th Fighter Wing were involved in a strike on terrorist training camp Saturday, the U.S. Air Force reported Tuesday.
The jet attack destroyed an al-Qaeda training camp southwest of Baghdad, the Air Force says in a press release.
The 138th Fighter Wing is based in Tulsa. About 190 people from the unit were sent to Iraq in June.
In a coordinated attack, Air Force joint air terminal controllers on the ground cleared four F-16s to drop 500-pound and 1,000-pound guided bombs on the terror complex near Karbala, the release says.
The precision guided weapons destroyed the target, damaging al-Qaeda's ability to mount attacks on the Iraqi government, coalition forces and civilians, the release says.

I agree it is great to have a President like Bush at times like this and I support him and our troops. Bush has high ratings in my household and we Pray that whoever is elected in his place will fight the other fights that need to be fought.

I appreciate the fine work our young men and young women are doing in Iraq. My prayers are with them and their families. It can be very unsettling on one's nerves when your child is in harm's way. My son recently returned home safely after a year's tour of duty in Iraq...

"Innocent child?" "Maybe a doctor?" Come on! What is more likely in a terrorist training camep? -- a budding doctor or a terrorist preparing to kill many innocent children and future doctors with their IED's? Quit drinking the liberal Koolaid.

Chris needs to READ the article! A TERRORIST TRAINING CAMP was destroyed by our troops, not a school, daycare, college or medical facility training DOCTORS! Nice that they are over there taking care of business so you can post your negative and unsupportive comments sitting safe in the United States of America.
Good job 138th and thank you.

From 7/25 Joint-US Iraqi forces backed by helicopters carried out a number of raids Tuesday night on the Sadr City area of Baghdad, destroying scores of houses and shops. Eight people have were killed and ten wounded in a clashes between joint US-Iraqi forces and suspected Shiite militiamen in Sadr City.
From 7/22 "A U.S. missile attack Saturday on insurgents in Husseiniya, about 20 miles north of Baghdad, left six insurgents dead and five wounded, U.S. military officials said. But witnesses in Husseiniya said U.S. helicopters attacked three houses in a four-hour period, killing at least 18 people, including women and children. They said about 21 people were wounded in the attacks, which leveled the buildings.
"It was a war and not a response to an attack targeting them. It was a war against civilians inside their houses," said Hazim Hussein, 30, a wholesale merchant whose house is about 160 yards from the targeted houses. Hussein said he found body parts of women and children in the rubble of the three houses.

Here's the story from 7/19
US warplanes dropped seven bombs on a bridge south of Baghdad allegedly used for smuggling weapons and militants into the Iraqi capital, the military said on Thursday. Four bombs of 2,000 pounds and three of 500 pounds were dropped on Sunday on an “improvised steel reinforced bridge inhibiting insurgent movement south of Baghdad,” the military said in a statement.
