BA soldier is killed by explosion in Iraq
DEAD AT 21
Jaron Holliday:
His mother says he always wanted to be in the armed forces.

A Broken Arrow soldier was killed in Iraq on Saturday.
Pfc. Jaron D. Holliday, 21, was one of three soldiers who were killed around 12:45 p.m. Iraq time Saturday in Hawr Rajab when the Humvee they were in struck an improvised explosive device during combat operations, according to the U.S. Department of Defense.
Holliday, Sgt. Dustin S. Wakeman, 25, of Fort Worth, Texas, and Cpl. Jason K. Lafleur, 28, of Ignacio, Colo., were killed, according to the Defense Department.
All three were assigned to the 1st Squadron, 40th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division based in Fort Richardson, Alaska.
Holliday had always wanted to be in the armed forces, and at age 11 he began researching which branch he wanted to go into, said his mother, Kelly Holliday. In 2005, at age 19, he joined the Army.
''That was always his desire -- to go into the military and serve,'' she said. ''When 9/11 happened, he was 15, and he said, 'If I were old enough to serve, I would.' ''
Jaron Holliday was the oldest of eight siblings -- seven boys and one girl, his mother said.
He was home-schooled and graduated through the Christian Home Education Fellowship of Oklahoma in 2004. At his graduation, he played the piano and received a standing ovation, said his mother.
''He was a people-watcher,'' she said. ''He loved people. He was the kind of person who, if he saw someone sitting by themselves looking depressed or upset, he made it his mission to make them smile before he left, and usually accomplished that goal.''
Services for Holliday have not yet been arranged.
So far, 3,674 troops and U.S. civilian personnel have been killed in Operation Iraqi Freedom since it began in March 2003, according to the latest Department of Defense numbers released Monday.

Dear Holliday family,
My heart goes out to you in the ultimate promotion of your beloved son. In the arms of Jesus he will wait for you. May He who is near the broken hearted comfort you in His deep abiding sustaining love. The dead in Christ shall meet Him first.
1Th 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

Jaron, I remember the children's confrence we both worked at and we were filling out the leader forms. He read his question aloud: "What one word would you use to describe your assistant?"...I think this word also describes him:
SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS!!
We love ya man...and we'll miss you.

Jaron is truly an American Hero who followed his heart. And though my son made it back from Iraq so many of his "Battle Buddies" as he calls them did not. Our hearts and prayers go out to all of Jarons family and friends. It is so difficult to lose any of our soldiers, but seems to be especially heart wrenching when they are from a our own community. He will be let into the gates of heaven with no questions asked.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Jaron in Fort Rich and it was a great pleasure deploying with him to iraq and serving with him. Finding out he had passed brought tears to my eyes. There is something missing since he is gone that can never be replaced. No matter how bad i was feeling i could always count on holliday to make me smile. I still seems like a dream that he is not here anymore i keep looking for him to pop up and have something smart to say to make me laugh. My preyers go out to his family. Please know that you son made a huge impression on me and he will never be forgotten by me or anyone else he served with may he RIP

To the Holliday Family:
I was friends with Jaron when we went to Cornerstone Tutorial Center together - he was so much fun. I remember his laugh so well. I think what I loved most about him was his ability to lighten any situation. He was so wonderfully talented. I am praying for your family during this time. When I heard the news, I was shocked and grieved. I am finding comfort in the fact that he is sharing his talents and giving his praise to the Creator he loved so much. God bless you all and keep you during this difficult time.

To the Holliday Famly, My son Jason LaFleur was home on leave mid June. He wanted to go shopping to put a box of goodies for his together for his friend, Jaron. He told me how much he liked him and respected him. When I got the news of my Jason, my very second thought was what about Jaron? I hoped and prayed they were not together in the vehicle. My heart is broken over our losses. May God give you peace of mind and heart. I am thankful that Jason had him as a friend.

I do not know you or your son, Jaron, but I am very sorry for your loss. From what everyone says, he was a wonderful person. Whether they say it or not, I know that by going into the military he was trying to save all of us back home. I wish he could have come back home to you guys, but am very grateful for him and the other brave soldiers that fight for our safety here at home. To me, soldiers are very close to Christ because they are willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for all of us that they do not even know. Thank you to Jaron for fighting for us, and thank you to his family for raising such a wonderful person and giving him up.

Through the homeschool connection you have many families praying for your entire Holliday family. You were right, Dad, none of us get to pick the time... we can only love our children each & every day & release them to the Lord. We grieve with you, but we are so thankful for the service your son was so willing to do for us all. I have 3 sons; all have expressed interest in some sort of service. It is difficult to let go, but knowing that they have committed their lives to the Lord & allowing Him to take care of the rest, is the best any parent can do. May God give you comfort in the next few days & weeks.

What a shame those stupid Iraqis never appreciated his wonderfulness. They probably thouth he was in their country just to murder them and turn the place into a stinking cesspit. How wrong could they get?
