Inhofe urges Congress to butt out of war strategy

U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe says other members of Congress are pushing President Bush to prematurely and arbitrarily draw down troop levels in Iraq.

The Oklahoma Republican is the second ranking member on the Senate Armed Services Committee.

"I have said time and again that I have faith in the generals and soldiers on the ground running the war," Inhofe said.

"A majority of the Senate voted to give General Petraeus until mid-September to implement a successful new surge strategy, and any effort to cut short this timeline and set an arbitrary withdrawal deadline is premature and irresponsible. The last thing we need is 535 'Generals' in Congress telling our troops how to win this fight."

Correction; 300 million generals. I thought the people of this great nation were in charge, not the military. Listen to your boss, Inhofe. No, I don't mean Bush.

Senator Inhofe is a bad joke, but I do think Generals ought to concentrate on winning the war, free of interference from either the legislative OR EXECUTIVE branches of government. That means the house, senate, and president need to butt out!

Jim Inhofe is the worst of what our state sends to Washington to represent us. He is nothing more than a corporate tool and he has ZERO interest in what benefits the people of the United States. Oh, unless they're among the top 1% in terms of wealth.

Compare his campaign contributions to his public statements and it is readily apparent that he is nothing more than a mouthpiece for the oil companies, the war profiteers, the drug companies who are raping and pillaging the treasury.

His position on climate change is ridiculous. Largest contributors are oil companies. Big surprise.

This country will NEVER have peace without energy independence. As long as we have Inhofe and others of his ilk, bought and paid for mouthpieces of Exxon and the others, we will never have energy independence.

There are so many things wrong with Jim Inhofe's alleged representation of the citizens of Oklahoma, I could run on for days.

Suffice to say he is incompetent, arrogant, condescending. Happily, there's a new candidate in the field who may oust Inhofe. Andrew Rice is a conscientious, intelligent, capable individual with a track record of working FOR the people of Oklahoma, not against us. Consider checking him out.

In the meantime, remember that Inhofe wants to harm you and your children and grandchildren with his idiotic self serving policies which benefit only the ultra rich.

Senator Inhofe, needs to retire, he is out of touch with reality and with his real constitutes, the ones whose sons and daughters are over there losing their lives. If we are to continue this war we need to put enough troops over there to get the job done, if not we need to get out. But that won't happen because it is more profitable for those who are in power to drag this out as long possible. It appears that this country has forgotten Vietnam. Senator Inhofe is too busy catering to the rich by voting for NAFTA & CAFTA and ignoring the problem’s, which are being created by Corporate Greed, including Global Warming. Which by the Senator Inhofe claims does not exist. As long politicians like him are in power this country will continue to decline. Also what will our soldiers do when they come home, once all of our jobs have outsourced overseas? Bush has had 4 years to win this war and so far nothing has changed over there. We have replaced one terrorist with a handful of others. There is nothing we are going to be able to do to make these people stop hating and killing each other. If Senator Inhofe and his ilk are so concerned about Terrorism why are they hell bent on opening our borders, which will be the result of NAFTA & CAFTA. LM in Cleveland is right about pulling all are Troops home and using them to protect our own borders and ports. We also need to stop outsourcing these jobs to foreign companies, Dubai for example. It’s time to vote Senator Inhofe out of office.

My question is why are we still there? We have done everything President Bush said why we are in Iraq, we knock Husein from power gave the people of Iraq free elections. It seems that every time we accomplish some thing our mission changes. The President needs to figure out a plan and stick with and stop calling audibles at the line. After all I thought the mission was accomplished when Bush landed on that aircraft carrier, well, that is what the banner said behind him. Maybe it was for the fact he did not crash the plane.

Hell will freeze over before the idiots who led us into this mess called Iraq will admit error. The biggest question now is why we're still bothering to listen to them.

Give us fabrications bathed in patriotism and fear, and we'll be lapdogs for life. Bring it on, Sir Inhofe. We really are as stupid as we appear.

Meanwhile, the real terrorist, the ones we should be fighting, are reloading . . . (Oops, I just played the fear card. It soo-o easy. Little wonder they do it so often.)

Inhofe is and always has been an incompetent boob who should never have been elected in the first place and should have been run out of Congress long ago. He has one of the poorest (if not the worst) attendance and voting records in the Senate and is a joke to most responsible Oklahoma citizens. Why anyone would listen or give any credence to anything this Bush-butt-kisser would have to say is beyond me. Don Nichols was at least his own man and although I can't stand Tom Coburn, he does at least speak his conscience and not the old Republican drivel that Inhofe

can't seem to realize the American people are not buying anymore.

Once again, voters of Oklahoma: Boot this man out! When Inhofe first ran for office, I could see where his priorities lay. I voted against him every time he ran. Now I'm living in another state but I keep up with OK politics. Inhofe just mouths words with no meaning like Bush does. When they say "let the generals on the ground run the war" it's just another big fat Republican lie. The White House is running the war! The White House hires and fires generals. This is not a war run by soldiers. It's a war where soldiers LOSE THEIR LIVES AND LEGS AND ARMS and the politicians who initiated the war sit comfortably in their hand-tailored suits counting their dividends from the war industry. Wake up, Oklahoma.

To "LM" Cleveland: Unbelieveable that anyone would suggest "nuking" as an answer to the problems that OUR country has caused. Evidently you have a death wish. Evidently you have no human compassion. We badly need a Department of Peace in the U.S. that actively works around the world to find solutions that DON'T involve killing. Are we a Christian nation, "LM" Cleveland?

As to why "everyone" voted for this clown, there are numerous reasons, but counted top among them is that the media is controlled by just a few immense corporate empires.

The average joe and josephine, sitting on their farm out in tallalah, aren't going to hear about inhofe's misdeeds and his brazen disregard for the people of his state and this country, heck, the world.

It is very, very important that we all begin to pay attention to what is happening in our government, such as it is.

Did you know that George Bush issued an order which states he can take your property if you oppose or fight against what's happening in Iraq? in Lebanon?

Habeas corpus is dead with barely a whimper. Think to yourselves "oh, that's good to help us fight terrorists," then imagine YOU or YOUR family locked up with no recourse.

PAY ATTENTION, Oklahoma. Pay attention to the steady chipping away at the constitution; to the unprecedented concentration of power in the executive branch of government; to the elimination of any serious form of checks and balances at the federal level.

PAY ATTENTION to Bush's plan to quash dissent. Think to yourself "but he's doing this for us, for the terrorists," and then ask yourself if you truly, in your gut, believe we are safer now than pre-9/11?

If you think so, then PAY ATTENTION to the fact that the resurgence of al Qaeda has occurred primarily BECAUSE of our presence in Iraq.

And then PAY ATTENTION to why we're really in Iraq, which is nothing more than oil and ego and money and power. PAY ATTENTION to the fact that if we don't get out of Iraq, there will be a draft because there's no other way to keep this debacle going.

PAY ATTENTION that it is always the children and husbands and loved ones of the poor and working and middle class who fight the wars for corporate control of oil, for money, for power, for the aggrandizement of conscienceless thugs like Jim Inhofe.

And then PAY ATTENTION at the polls and get rid of this man who is too blinded by his own power, by his own wealth, by his own needs to ingratiate himself with the titans of the corporate world to pay attention to you, to me, to our children, our families, our loved ones.

Andrew Rice is the fresh face and the only potential alternative to Jim Inhofe. Check him out. Inhofe must go. He is dangerous to me, to you, to our nation, to our world.

Thank you Sen. Inhoffe for being blunt. We need to stay the course and accomplish our goals in Iraq and Afghanistan. I do not understand how anyone could compare our government or our leaders with the "Third Reich". Any person that infers such idiocy must not have had family that was in WWII or just failed to listen in school. Again thank you for supporting our efforts in the war on terror. Our troops are the finest fighting force ever assembled, not only for their fighting technics but also their humanity. They perform more good things, that the media fail to report, than all of the bad stuff that we have heard. We as Americans need to learn to respect our President, whether you like him/her or not, our troops and our reason for being a free country.

Number 18 is right. This new executive order empowering the federal government to freeze the assets of people who threaten Iraq's stability and its government is so broad it could be applied to any domestic opponent of the Iraq war who has assets in the U.S.

Check out worldnetdaily.

When the generals and the national intelligence staff say that we should not be pulling out, then that is the advice that the President should follow. Sens. Levin and Warner were wrong to weigh in on who Iraqis should elect, and Sen. Warner and the Dems are wrong to urge pullout or a surrender date. The surge is working, just as the military professionals said it would. I send my thanks to our troops for defending our freedom.

#20, Mr. Lanning, and #24, Jim, with all due respect, what is our goal in Iraq?

Of course I know what our goal is now ~ it is to attempt to restore some sort of stability such that we CAN get out.

But our original goal? It was not fighting terror. That was not where the terrorists were. Yes, al-Qaeda is there now, but that is the result of the unrest we created by destroying the government of Iraq.

While our excellent service men and women have been dying in Iraq, have had their tours of duty extended beyond reason, al Qaeda has established training grounds in other countries in the middle east.

We can do nothing about that, because we're overextended in a country that had NOTHING to do with what happened here. Nothing. That is simply indisputable.

I'm not against fighting terrorists, but if we're going to do that, why didn't we invade Saudi Arabia? Most of the hijackers of 9/11 were Saudis.

Oops! Saudi Arabia is our friend and, not coincidentally, an enormous provider of oil for our country.

It is not wonder residents of middle east fear us and hate us. We have, at various times, armed virtually every country in the middle east, including Iraq.

It's insane and bottom line, folks, whether you want to believe it or not, the goal is oil. WE NEED ENERGY INDEPENDENCE or we will destroy our way of life fighting these dreadful battles and sacrificing American lives for corporate interests.

American ingenuity is still, I believe, second to none. Though we've been knocked down by NAFTA and outsourcing of our jobs, I am still enough of a USA booster to believe ~ to know ~ that our creativity is, bar none, the greatest in the world. I love my country.

Let's set loose our best scientific brains on finding a way to free of us the ties that bind us to the middle east and other unstable regions, ties that are drenched in oil and blood.

And yes, please look up Bush's executive order indicating he can take your property as he pleases ~ or as a Treasury Dept. official pleases ~ but don't go to WorldNetDaily, which has a reputation of being a little off kilter.

Go directly to the WhiteHouse(dot)gov and read it in the executive orders. It's not a myth or an urban legend.

Our rights as free citizens are steadily being eroded by this power hungry tyrant currently ensconced in the White House. Toadies like Jim Inhofe only help smooth the way by saying absolutely ridiculous, unAmerican, unpatriotic things like "tell Congress to butt out of war strategy."

The terorrists don't "hate us for our freedoms." They're hiding in the hills of Afghanistan laughing their heads off because we've simply allowed our freedoms to be taken away. The American sheeple. What happened to American fight? to dissent and passion and engagement in the life of this nation?

Don't listen to what you hear disseminated on the evening news or on the cable news channels. Investigate for yourselves. Go to the library, check out books from the last several years written by virtually every individual of reason and education on what's happening in this country and in Iraq.

Then be terrified, because we are on the verge of losing it all ~ the great American dream. We don't have to, but if we remain merely sheeple, we will.

Cast out the traitors like Jim Inhofe, George Bush and the ever terrifying Dick Cheney, who deserves no more respect than you would give the average criminal thug on the streets.

THESE PEOPLE ARE DESTROYING THE CONSTITUTION AND OUR COUNTRY. WAKE UP!!
