Climate bill sparks Inhofe warning of 'alarmism'
Sen. Jim Inhofe
By JIM MYERS World Washington Bureau

The senator predicts history will see 2007 as a global-warming turning point.
WASHINGTON -- As a key panel begins work on a bipartisan climate change bill, U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe issued another warning Friday on "alarmism" surrounding global warming.
The Oklahoma Republican, a leading skeptic on manmade global warming, also predicted the global warming fear machine fueled by Hollywood elitists and their money-driven partners reached its tipping point this year.
"I am convinced that future climate historians will look back at 2007 as the year the global warming fears began crumbling," Inhofe said in a two-hour speech on the Senate floor.
He said even "liberal environmental scientists" have become disenchanted with such activism.
Sens. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., and John Warner, R- Va., have introduced legislation designed to cut U.S. greenhouse gas emissions.
"With all the irrefutable evidence we now have corroborating that climate change is real, dangerous and proceeding faster than many scientists predicted, this is the year for Congress to move this critical legislation," Lieberman said last week.
Lieberman serves as chair man of a subcommittee of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, and Warner is the panel's top Republican.
That panel held a hearing on their legislation earlier this week.
Inhofe is the full committee's
top Republican.

CLIMATE CHANGE DEBATE
‘I am convinced that future climate historians will look back at 2007 as the year the global warming fears began crumbling.’
Sen. Jim Inhofe, R-Okla.
‘With all the irrefutable evidence ... corroborating that climate change is real ... this is the year for Congress to move this critical legislation.’

It is very sad for Oklahoman's, when her representative refuses to see the damage pollution causes. I seriously believe Mr. Inhofe should be defeated during the next election, for the sake of the children of Oklahoma.

Inhofe has a lot to learn. Has anyone told him that the Earth is round, not flat? He could have a new theory to rebut.

Tony G is your typical liberal who plays the do it for the children card when ever an issues comes up. this global warming is a bunch of bunk. te earth goes through cyle changes. it was 30 yerars ago scientists were playing another ice age card. most of the scientists have threatened to sue al gore if he uses their name to back up his convenient lie. al gore, do as i say but don't do as i do. he won't go green but tells everyone else to go green. he takes his nice shiny jet wherever he goes.

I'm keeping the quote in the 3rd paragraph(as well as the whole article) in a word document and backing it up in another place so I won't ever lose it. Can't wait to pull this up in 30 years or so and have a good laugh at Big Jim!

The following applies doubly for a chronic nose full of toxic alpine air from ExxonMobil for a paycheck for Evil Inhofe - Marc Morano spoken during Rush’s oxycontin/morano days. “Partial-birth abortion is a whole different subject than abortion. ... Herr Von Kauffman,
You are incorrect and an extremist Republican and Christian to write “Most comments confuse toxic pollution with ... carbon dioxide. Without it, no plants, no people ... reviews with fact, not climate dogma”. It is more true that no Al Gore, none of your lies using internet electrons.

Inhofe is right. In Britain, as the result of a law suit by a school board member against the government that ordered showing of Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth", it was ruled that the film could be shown only with cautionary "guidance notes" because of the inaccuracies and the showing of the counter film "The Great Global Warming Swindle" produced by Britain's Channel 4.

Typical show biz, plagiarized my abortion portion but not Evil Inhofe. Darn, LABI Limbaugh must have thrown Evil Inhofe under the bus.
”RUSH ... a parrotlet, the tiniest parrot that there is ... named ... Stumpy ... Life exists to live, in whatever form that it takes place, be it animal, a human being, a plant, or what have you ... its whole purpose is to sustain itself ... Every living organism has this. It has this innate will to live. And when you see that, either in an animal or human or what have you, and then you contrast that to the whole abortion movement, which it really is, the people who are suggesting that some people shouldn't live because of the circumstances they're going to be born to and so forth, you look at these little animals, and, especially pets, they're just the essence of innocence like little babies are” (”Stumpy and the Miracle of Nature”; Mr. Rush “LABI” Limbaugh, The Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity extremist Republican and Christian hosts of corporate whoredom for tired media outlets; Standard Oil’s royal eunuch, plagiarism’s epicenter, and RNC liars club; rushlimbaugh*com, 10/30/07).

I've been a conservationist since high school and am embracing the "global warmists", except for the mantra that demands my tax dollars to be spent foolishly (again). I'm all for energy conservation and alternative fuels. It is too bad that we can't fully debate this issue, since I truly believe that climate change is happening regardless what we may do. We should spend our money to save people from harm. We should observe the planet carefully and respond accordingly. The biggest single polluter is China!

Golly Gosh Lori;
I didn't get none of LABI Limbaugh's free oxycontin to enjoy selling my chillin' and organs into slavery like you. I feel like a real victim now. Maybe we can meet up in Aspen and complain about those Mexican and space aliens while swapping spouses. Then in the springtime, we can become born-again with a big donation to ORU and start this natural cycle all over again while ignoring the drought and flooding in Oklahoma!

Gee, Lori, let's parse your name-calling here. "ultra liberal, pro-gay, pro-abortion, spoiled rich kid," huh?
ultra-liberal = anything not reich wing
pro-gay = thinks gay people deserve the same rights as everyone else (the nerve!)
pro-abortion = thinks women should actually have the CHOICE about what happens to their own bodies (the nerve!)
spoiled rich kid = has as much money as the republican running for the same office.
And you really believe Inhofe is better? Thanks for illustrating my earlier point (It is amazing how well the GOP plays these ignorant voters, and equally amazing how the ignorant voters fall for it every time).

I urge them to get out and work, hard, for Inhofe's opponent. Those citizns who vote for anything, even a horse's patoot, if he's branded GOP. . . well, what can I say about being brain dead.

I would just like to respond to ET in Tulsa, who wrote above "30 yerars ago scientists were playing another ice age card".
ET, this is not true. It's something repeated by Inhofe and other deniers, certainly, but the reality is there was no peer-reviewed science and no scientists claiming in the 70's that global cooling was on it's way.
This is a myth put out by the global warming deniers to confuse persons like you. Go find the Newsweek article that feeds this lie and read it. Look for a reference to a single scientist claiming global cooling is happening. There are none.
In fact, the only real scientist quoted in the article said that (at the time) we don't know enough to even ask the right questions yet.
Now, things are obviously different. Every single scientific academy and society in every single industrialized nation agrees that humans are causing global warming.
Inhofe is either insane, or deeply dishonest.

Most comments confuse toxic pollution with release of the essential fertilizer, carbon dioxide. Without it, no plants, no people.
There is solid evidence that the last 100 ppm of carbon dioxide addition has not caused any global warming. As one of a dozen reviews with fact, not climate dogma, see: Journal of American Physicians & Surgeons, 2007, vol 12, #3.

Inhofe is the consummate corporate whore. He will say and do whatever he is told by the big $$$ contributors in the GOP. Because they profit when the American government does nothing, he plays the dutiful "skeptic." Because they profit from unsupervised no-bid contracts when we stay in Iraq, he votes to stay in Iraq.
When is the last time he voted for the common man instead of his corporate masters? Almost never!!! Yet thousands of Oklahoma rubes vote Republican time and time again so they can be protected from "the homosexual agenda" or from "Islamofascism." It is amazing how well the GOP plays these ignorant voters, and equally amazing how the ignorant voters fall for it every time. One would think they would learn...

Regardless of the reasons for global warming,it is surely in all our interests to improve the quality of the air we breathe. Remember this,we will never destroy the EARTH,however we can destroy ourselves. The EARTH will recover from whatever damage we do to it,no matter how long it takes! Ignorance is bliss, for it is folly to be wise. I do not understand senator Inhofe's motives for ignoring all of the signs of climate change, regardless of the cause.

well, I for one cannot wait until we get to see the large front page photo on the Tulsa World that shows senator Inhofe with his foot stuck right into his mouth! Not to mention without the expensive shoes he undoubtedly purchased with his generous donations from oil companies. **cough****cough** perhaps from the one who would "donate" to our river!!

Looks like somebody got 3 magical bean for his ExxonMobil cash cow and is now selling freshly cleared terminal and lateral moraines in Greenland in a mom and pop boiler room with Marc “the Viking farmer without a bottom in his chaps” Morano. Evil Inhofe’s happy cult will include free cable that includes seal clubbing that is different than hippies and minorities, reindeer and Santa’s elf porn that looks like horses and children, and more ice cold fresh water than in the entire state of Oklahoma.
