State lawmaker offers Bible for a Quran
By World Capitol Bureau

OKLAHOMA CITY -- A Ponca City lawmaker said Friday that he will accept a centennial copy of the Quran, then return the favor by presenting a copy of the Bible to the governor's group that offered the Islamic book to legislators.
"I am excited about the opportunity to share my personal Christian faith with members of the Ethnic American Advisory Council, and I am interested in hearing from them about their beliefs," said Democratic Rep. Ken Luttrell.
Luttrell is among the majority of House members and senators who accepted the book, although about 35 of the 149 members of the Legislature have declined the gift.
"Open dialogue is at the heart of peace and mutual respect for others," Luttrell said. "I am honored to be in a position to exchange dialogue and information with the Ethnic American Advisory Council, and I hope they feel the same."
Rep. Rex Duncan, R-Sand Springs, notified fellow members on Oct. 22 that he was not accepting the Quran, saying that, "most Oklahomans do not endorse the idea of killing innocent women and children."
Marjan Seirafi-Pour, chairwoman of the council, had informed lawmakers that if they did not want a copy of the Quran, to let the council know.
The purpose of the council is to work with the government and others to build understanding of Islam, members have said.

Finally! Just when it looked like their were no Christians anywhere who had any grace or sense, a legislator has received a Quran and returned the favor by offering a Bible! Compare that to the ignorant, small-minded jerks who stuck their noses in the air and pointedly refused to accept the Quran at all.
.
Everyone can decide for themselves who acted in the more Christ-like manner: Ken Luttrell or Rex Duncan.

Isn't Luttrell a little late? Speaker Cargill did the same thing more than a week ago.

Rex Duncan doesn't speak for the majority of Oklahomans, many of us are indigenous people, with our own traditions and beliefs. The bible and quran are both good books, with questionable scriptures. All ethnicities have their own guidelines on how to pray, live and be in accordance with a higher power. Christianity today still shuns those who don't believe as they, as shown in the actions of those 30 plus who declined the quran. Oklahomans, Rex Duncan is a very small man, with a small mind, who can't see past his nose. As indigenous people we were taught to never turn down food, a gift, or good information.

is a gift really a gift if it's disingenous in nature? can we say political propaganda stunt?
