The messages allegedly were sent as advice to ORU's Richard Roberts.

E-mails to ORU President Richard Roberts, allegedly from his paid political adviser, cover topics ranging from how to get Lindsay Roberts on county boards to whether the university could transport students in vans to vote.

The e-mails, provided to the Tulsa World by an anonymous source, are allegedly from Stephanie Cantees to Richard Roberts between 2004 and 2006. The Internet protocol address indicates they came through an ORU computer server to Roberts' ORU e-mail address.

Cantees is Lindsay Roberts' sister. She was paid by Oral Roberts Evangelistic Association to provide Roberts with regular reports about government affairs, community issues and rumors about ORU.

Roberts said Tuesday that he recalled many of the subjects outlined in the e-mails but that does not mean he took her advice.

Cantees' attorney, Gerald Hilsher, said Wednesday: ''Stephanie Cantees remembers the topics of some of the e-mails, but knows definitely that she did not write at least one of the e-mails'' that were provided to the Tulsa World.

Hilsher said that e-mail

was regarding an alleged meeting between Roberts and U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe in January to discuss Bill LaFortune.

Here are verbatim excerpts from the purported e-mails -- including misspelled words and grammatical errors -- that a sender named ''Stef,'' using Cantees' e-mail address, sent to Roberts' ORU e-mail account:

Aug. 19, 2004: The e-mail advises Roberts to call LaFortune, who was then mayor, about an upcoming general obligation bond issue and about nominating ''ORU affiliates'' to key boards.

''Richard if you have enough people on boards you will be far more likely to get the projects you need supported and funded. Most of all you will have great influence on CDBG grants and who gets them.''

Oct. 25, 2004: ''I guarantee you if you get the numbers on paper of voters you leverage it to get the student center built now with the government matching the funding. . . . The election board is open this Saturday - every kid could leave campus Saturday as a car load or even offer van transportation and they can vote avoiding the Tuesday lines. can you imagine if you could really get them to do it!!''

Oct. 26, 2005: Included in a list of ''housekeeping notes,'' the e-mail advises Roberts to call the RNC, or Republican National Committee, regarding help with getting the City of Faith building leased. It notes that Roberts would have more ''stumping potential especially if you did not have to spend so much time trying to lease your building.''

''Might want to in your thank you to Inhofe for his assistance in helping encourage usage of city plex for fema and any govt office.''

Jan. 10, 2006: ''Have been contacted by candidates from every city council district except District 4 - returned all calls including D.A. candi dates and Dan Keating (state race) - he can be very helpful - goes 2 ways wants to 'help' park some of the lottery higher education money here.''

Keating lost in the GOP primary for state treasurer.

Oct. 23, 2006: ''Perhaps the same dog and pony show in chapel . . . I need 80 percent of you to vote if you want your president to go forth on your behalf. I have discovered there is a federal voter registration form so no matter what state they live in all they do is fill it in and boom, they are registered in every state we pass out in chapel and collect. . . . I have made a huge copy of the national voter registration form to be put up behind you to show them how to do it.''

Nov. 2, 2006: The e-mail discusses the potential rewards if candidates know that 80 percent of the students are registered voters.

''They come now to have a chance to speak to the students, now make it so they come with the same desire to bring gifts and highly desirous to be given a seat at your table to become a part of the 'gift giving' ... fearful if they do not keep their word or include you equally they will face the consequences in their next term.''

Nov. 28, 2006: ''have a board for lr - have already approached Randi and am confident smalligo with agree - have spoke with him repeatedly - its huge ... this would give you control of county and city but timing is everything.''

The e-mail notes that ''Stef'' found a passage in state law officials could use to delay an appointment to the board until after January. ''Then pull your power play for lr's appointment - over 200 have already asked to be appointed.''

City records show Richard Roberts wrote an e-mail May 2, 2006, to Mayor Kathy Taylor with the names of 30 people, many ORU officials or graduates, to be considered for appointments to city boards.

Roberts' list included his wife, Lindsay Roberts, and states: ''great compassion for kids who have been mistreated, coming from abusive homes. One of the most well-known and respected Chrstian leaders in the State. . . . It would be good to have some familiar faces on some of these boards.''

LaFortune appointed Cantees to the Tulsa Metropolitan Area Planning Commission; Mayor Kathy Taylor reappointed her in March. Lindsay Roberts is not on any city or county boards.

Dec. 1, 2006: ''I suggest you become a key player in who is consulted for appointments. With an all Republican County Commission time they get out the Democrats who have no love for ORU, specifically Jim Orbison. He is on the Tulsa County Public Facilities Authority . . . This time you want Orbison off, LR on. . . . I am hoping when Clark Brewster's re-appointment is up November 2007 he is taken out.''

These freeloading republicans in this country need to be put in jail for taking all this tax free money from churches. No wonder they have so much money for their elections.

Sorry jam, I am not crazy about faith based groups taking my tax money either! Our troops don't have enough equipment in the field because the freeloading churches don't pay taxes but they want to tell everyone else how to live. Religious groups need to stay out of politics or be taxed! Quit freeloading! Your so called christian president needs to be put on trial for treason also! Leaking a CIA agent's name is illegal.

Let's see... ORU and/or OREA were paying Stephanie Cantees to come up with this useful advice. Richard Roberts' explanation of why this doesn't constitute involvement of his not-for-profit organizations is that he didn't act on any of it. But then why were they paying for it? Because Cantees is Lindsay Roberts' sister and she needed some income?

.

Either way, the IRS is going to yank their tax-exempt status. They're toast.

Dear Ziva - please stay with this story with vigilance. At this point, it matters not whether or not one side or the other wins a lawsuit, or whether or not the IRS is able to nab them. Most important is that all of these revelations combined, must be in some fashion, shaking up the lives of these arrogant, pompous people that serve themselves in the name of Christianity. They have erred so far from the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and shame themselves. No matter the outcome of all this, it is already plain to see bad fruit. ""You eat the fat and clothe yourselves with the wool; you slaughter the fatlings, but you do not feed the flock. The weak you have not strengthened, nor have you healed those who were sick, nor bound up the broken, nor brought back what was driven away, nor sought what was lost;" If Oral is ever honest with himself before God, he will see that he taught Richard well. Long before Richard was a grown man, Oral was dipping in the till for his own pleasure. Thanks for your articles.

I am not sure what is so wrong. The government made the rules and he was trying play inside those rules. Looks like he was simply trying to advance his ideals and university..liberals do it all the time..I think this is simply a man advancing his university's agenda..not in itself a bad thing. The IRS should not tax churches or faith based universities.

R.D. I agree with you...even though I voted for the jerk not once, but twice. I get so angry when I see our young boys in uniform fighting for what? I am so sick of all these "so called" christians and this "holy" war they love. They are as bad as the ones we are fighting. No more tax free churches if they have funded elections!!!! Get the records and if the church has donated "God's" money to anyone running for election then their tax exemption status should be repealed.

If these mega-tv evangelists were investigated in-depth, I think that one would find unbelieveable discrepancies in their ministries.

If you don't think that there is not a lot of "house-keeping" going on, right now, in the ministries that Senator Grassley has queried, you are mistaken.

Folks, religious colleges and universities, must be considered ministries, also.

Ancil The bad part is that this confirms a major allegation in the lawsuit that RR denied. Whether he played by the rules is only a question that the IRS can determine. If it goes against him, ORU pays a huge debt, loses Nonprofit status and who knows what else. The BOR must have a game plan to pull the U out of debt, the President cant do it.

There is nothing wrong with a religious organization trying to influence politics. Democrats use the pulpit of the black church all of the time without fear of criticism. If you hold the trump card, that is the race card, people can do anything they want without fear of rebuttal, but if white Republicans try to mobilize voters through a religious organization, it is criminal. Make up your mind, folks. The prejudice againstis nausiating.

By the way, as a former student at ORU (1970's), I can tell you that the abuse of university and associational finances has been observed and discussed among faculty and students for decades.

Back in the day...a "dog and pony show," as referenced in the October 23, 2006 email, was used as a description of a live pornographic event involving women and, well, dogs and ponies. I have difficulty understanding why fine Christian people would reference such acts.

If we are going to have Christians in politics, we need them to have genuine honesty, integrity and to truly live on principle.

This kind of political involvement "in order to gain influence in the system" is what leads to corruption in government

EXAMPLE OF CORRUPTION:

When any individual has enough influence in city government that the Police take a false report on what is NOT CRIMINAL, but a civil matter...then we have an example of corruption because of illegitimate influence.

Case in point: Stephanie Cantees and the Tulsa Police Department.

No other law enforcement agency in the United States of America would have taken a trespassing complaint against individuals who were representing the owner of the home in securing of her personal items.

Stephanie’s daughter is moving out of State, so I think your information is wrong. And yes, it is so sad what has been done to Vicki by her assistant Judy Upjohn. She stole Vicki’s money, has her living like an animal, and Judy is now in trouble with the Tulsa Police for breaking into Vicki’s old house (with a bunch of ORU people) and trying to take pictures and run someone over!

MY COMMENT ON KELLY'S POST

Of course, this is the kind of information that gets promoted when law abiding citizens are under gag orders and matters are all handled in closed secret court hearings.

I attend a Bible Based church and our pastor mentioned all this mess about the excesses of Televangelists and particularly their wives. He offered a very simple solution. If you don't like what they are doing quit sending them money and move on with your relationship with God.

# 16.. "If we are going to have Christians in politics, we need them to have genuine honesty, integrity and to truly live on principle." Politics and honesty?? Are you kidding me? Live on principals? Politicians live by whoever is funding them, they have no principals. You are very brainwashed just like all other people who feed money to these mega churches, etc. One can have a relationship with God without giving money to anyone.

while political powers were firmly in control, the cannonade has been relentless, both day and night. the bullworks are failing and the troops are flooding in. career soldiers and inlisted me are turning on their leaders. the colonel's position has failed to rally the men. the general has been brought in to restore peace with the politicians, it has not been successful. the winds of war have turned. all that is left in this epic tale is for troops to retreat, leave their batterys behind them and to get to a safe dwelling, stack arms and surrender. a nobel cause it was, but one that history will say broke from the inside, just as the general predicted so many years ago.

This is so wrong what Stephanie is doing to Vicki Jamison Peterson. How in the world did she get control of Vicki's house and then move her daughter's family in. Vicki bought and paid for that house and Trisha didn't pay for anything.

Is this how the Roberts do things, take others things for their own?

My dearly beloved fellow children of God and the readers of this message board:

-

I am not one of your false prophets that will tell you only you want to hear. I will tell you the truth. Whether you listen or not, that is your choice.

-

In this time of our dire spiritual crisis, I am here to deliver a message each of us needs to hear. The message is simply judge yea not and you will not be judge. By the same measure you judge, by that same measure will you be judged.

-

Therefore, you judge others to be lying, to be crooks, and to be dishonest all these many years. Now you have determined the teachings of the spiritual leader that each of you held to for so long to be false. Nevertheless, you unwisely do not realized the statement that you are making about yourselves, spiritually as well. Since everything, you believe was taught to you by a so-called false prophet, then that makes everything you believed false and that makes each of you followers of a false prophet.

-

Now instead of getting mad and letting Lucifer, continue to drag you down into sin, repent for the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent for not reading the word for yourself. Repent for chasing after the wisdom of man and not asking for the wisdom from God. This rather reminds me of the guy who tried to pay one of the Apostles for the power of the Holy Spirit. These people just ran the very same con on each of you.

-

I encourage you to re-evaluate your spiritual mistake of haphazardly following someone who, as you say, is a false prophet. We will all answer one day for what we do and whom we believe.

-

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness.

-

Because that which may be known of God is manifest (Or, to them) in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; (Or, that they may be) so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

-

And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

-

Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

-

For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one towards another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like (Or, to acknowledge) to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to (Or, a mind void of judgment) a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenant-breakers, (Or, unsociable) without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

-

Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but (Or, consent with them) have pleasure in them that do them.
